The New Face Of Christianity

All Christians, everywhere, want to promote the agenda of Jesus Christ. If the agenda of Jesus Christ is not your priority, then you are not a Christian, and you are unconverted, living in your sins even if you are a prominent member of a church. True, bloodwashed, committed, born-again Christians, and I regret the need to use such superfluous adjectives, has identified fully with Christ and his agenda, and without compromise.

The plain truth is, that the fight against evil is so hard, so unrelenting, and for some of us, so tiring, that it is tempting to seek alliances anywhere we can, even if some of those alliances are plainly unwise.

Some Christians will join hands with wicked individuals if they think that will help them achieve some things. Some misguided German Christians supported Hitler, because they believed he would bring them economic prosperity, but in the end he brought them disaster.

The spirit of hate, the desire to destroy those we perceive as different, the will to wipe out our opponents and to crush nonconformists, is the essence of being demonic.

Christians are not demonic, have no affiliation with Satan, and should not take on other people’s agenda; even when it seems we have some things in common.

You do not save people by hating them, seeking to crush them, or vilifying them. If you wipe out all the people in the world who you think are sinners, then by that act you will not convert a single soul. Not even one, solitary soul.You save people by converting them. This is the way of Jesus and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ agenda is crystal clear, and the Bible tells us this over and over again:

“And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:17)

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16:15-16)

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)

Those Christians who, because of ideological affiliation, are turning their faces, and their hearts, and their compassion, away from the poor, the marginalised, the minorities, from those who are of a different race, or colour, should never be seen as the true face of Christianity.

In a world of absolute decadence, hatred, and moral pollution, the face of Christianity is represented not by the vicious, snarling face of a person like convicted Charleston, South Carolina, church murderer Dylan Roof , as he slays innocent people praying in the Church, but by one of his vistims’ relative, “I forgive you,” said the daughter of 70-year-old Ethel Lance.

While this troubled world is rushing to its doom, when fear-mongering is becoming the norm, the true face of Christianity can be seen in the attitude of the child who took her school lunch money and donated it to help the refugees in Ethiopia because she said, “God tells us to love them”.  A little child shall lead them just naturally comes to mind.

When our political leaders are so fanatical about creating divisions, tensions, and generating instabilities between nations and peoples, the true face of Christianity can be seen in people like Madeline Albright, the former US Secretary of State,  who said that if Muslims are banned from America, she will register as a Muslim.

In this mean-spirited world, when short term thinking dominates national agendas, the true face of Christianity can be seen in people like Prime Minister Justin Pierre James Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, who said that all refugees who are turned away from the USA will be accommodated in Canada temporarily.

It is my belief that Christians are the only religious people who will spend eternity with Almighty God in heaven, everyone else will simply not make it, not because they are evil above all else, but because they chose the wrong way.

Muslims, the followers of Islam, are on their way to hell, but I do not want to kill them off, but to encourage them to consider Jesus Christ, accept him and be converted.

Jews, the special people God chose to communicate Jesus to the world, are on their way to hell, but I do not want to destroy them, but to encourage them to turn to Jesus Christ, accept him and be converted.

Christianity is about love, the true face of Christianity is loving and caring. Jesus lived a life of love, the disciples lived a life of love, and we today will stay true to the cause of love, and yes, it means loving our enemies.

The Apostle Paul summed it up beautifully in these words, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth. Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ERV)

Christians need to understand and practice this kind of love. “For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?” (Matthew 5:46)

True Christians know how to love. They have always displayed that genuine love, that comes so easily, from those who belong to Jesus Christ. The true face of Christianity is the image of Jesus Christ shining forth in us, that reaches out in compassion to all. It is this true face of Christianity that separates us from others, like the Jews and Muslims, and when encountered it will persuade people to want what we have – the love of God in our hearts – and this may lead to their conversion.

In truth, the new face of Christianity is the same old face of Christianity; loving, compassionate, and caring as always. If, when you look at the demeanour of any Christian, and you do not see these qualities, you may be looking at a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
