The Willingness To Love

Romans Chapter 7

It seems that the only times people engage in active practices of love is when love is emphasized in a certain way. The holidays are a perfect example: everywhere you look, ads of happy people, singing and laughing, drinking and eating your favorite food and drinks, buying gifts for grandma and the children, everyone seems content and fulfilled. It looks like the message is, go out and buy some stuff, gift wrap them, and then eat, drink, and be merry.

I have to admit, that when I watch a group of people unwrapping gifts and exchanging gifts to each other, it does seem pleasant. The little ones get excited, and they start playing with their toys joyfully. I do enjoy receiving a gift, it is nice to know that someone was thinking of me. It is nice to have anticipation of this type of expression of love at least once during the year.

Christmas is a time of celebration and gratitude, for the God of this universe gave us His son, Jesus Christ, who was born to two humble and righteous human beings in a manger. He was not born in a palace, and no one but the shepherds and the angels celebrated His birth that night, but it was the greatest gift ever given to mankind. That is why we give gifts to each other to celebrate His birth, because when you give gifts to others, your are imitating your Father in heaven, who is always giving gifts to us every day, gifts of love, gifts of peace, gifts of life and joy, His example to us is that we need to practice the gift of love every day, we must be willing to love.

Anyone who has ever read the bible knows the story of how the earth was formed and how mankind was created, to exist on a beautiful world that we call the earth. They also know a mistake was made by adam and eve, and humanity lost its innocence and its ability to live perfectly in the presence of the Lord, with the knowledge of good and evil within the conscience of every man
and woman ever born, who no longer had the ability to love the Lord according to His standards.

He is perfect, and we are not. For every good thing we do, evil is now always present to pervert what we mean to be good (Romans ch 7:21). That is why it is so essential to know what is good and pure, so that we can see everything as God sees them. When we see things from His perspective, we understand that anything 'good' that we do will never be good enough. Without God, we will always have good intentions and we will strive to be good, but our fallen human nature will always get in the way, and the results will never be one hundred percent good, perfect and pure.

That is why we need His Spirit to guide us, comfort us, and transform our hearts and minds, We need His strength and ability to live according to His standards, for evil corrupts everything that it touches, and it corrupts the hearts and minds of everone every single day. As followers of Christ, we must be willing to express love through our actions every day, and we must be willing to allow the Lord to express His love through us. That means giving of ourselves when we don't FEEL like doing so, being nice to people that we know are doing bad things, praying for people who have stabbed us in the back, and caring about people who will never care about us.

Why is any of that necessary? Surely God knows that we love Him. After all, we decided to believe in Him and follow His Son, Jesus Christ, why do we have to love people who will never love us? The simple answer is, because He loves them, and He wants His children to show His love to them, so that perhaps some of them may come to a revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as their savior, to show the love and hospitality of God. God expresses His love through us, and in His gifts of life and aboundance in the world; He sends rain to our crops, whispers knowledge into our minds, inspires inventions and innovations to make our lives easier, and shows evidence of His existence everywhere, even into the very cells of our own bodies, so that no man may say at the Day of Judgement He never knew there was a God in Heaven, and that He never had a chance to repent.

Loving other people should be easy, but it is not. Some people make it impossible to show any kind of warmth or gratitude towards them; they love to be evil and they have no qualms about showing it and expressing it to everyone else. That is when the GRACE of God steps in, He gives you to ability to show love to them and not feel the least bit slighted, for you should not try to love them in your own strength, but through the power of the Holy Spirit. If you try to do so on your own, you will feel cheated, abused, and worn out. Some people will try to use you, abuse you, and throw you away like a piece of refuse into the garbage can if you let them. Let the Lord do all the work, and stand back while He changes the situation of your relationship between these people and yourself.

Loving others is a choice, you must be willing to let the Lord live through you. Take the time to worship in His presence, to begin to understand the deep richness of His love, and you will be able to love people you know dont like you, care about you, or who refuse to accept you as you are. You can't change who you are, only God has the ablity to conform you into His image,
and remember He wants to change you so that you will be like Him, a vessel of pure good and love. He made you and your personality, so He loves you just the way you are!

Dont stress about the rejections and the rejectors in your life, they cannot take away the love of Jesus Christ and how much He cares about you. Let Him work through you, and He will make sure that you will be comforted and loved with a love that goes beyond all human understanding. Be Ye encouraged, my brothers and sisters in Christ, for your Savior and Deliverer loves you, and has given you everything you need to survive in this world, and the power to love others with no regrets.
