Faith to Fruition
by PamFord Davis
4/06/2017 / Devotionals

Faith … It is both process and progress.

For Paul (Saul), it began on a Damascus road.

“Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest and requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women who belonged to the Way, he might bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?'

'Who are You, Lord?' he said.

'I am Jesus, the One you are persecuting,' He replied. 'But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do (Acts 9:1-6 HCSB).”

Grace was involved in the process of faith.

“Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to torment me so I would not exalt myself. Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away from me. But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me (2 Corinthians 12:7b-9 HCSB).”

Paul was Christ's willing servant from newborn faith to fruition.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7 HCSB).”
