Oaks of Righteousness

by Steve Countryman
4/08/2017 / Christian Living

Isaiah 61:3 They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”

The oak is a symbol of a mighty strong tree. We Christians are His oaks of righteousness. Just as a group of trees is called a stand so we stand representing God’s righteousness to the world.

A oak tree provides shade from the heat to those around it, shelter from a storm, refuge for the weary, a resting place for the tired, a buffer from the elements, home for the birds and dry wood for a warm fire on a cold night.

The mighty oak represents strength, position or stand and is an unmovable object. The mighty oak bends in the storm but doesn’t break. For God planted you as His oak of righteousness displayed to those around you.

You are a planting of the Lord. God planted you right where you are with a plan and a purpose. God takes ALL things into consideration when He planted you. Your location, your surroundings, your needs and supplies, nourishment and fresh water.

God takes care of the seedling tree as it grows and watches over its progress. Caring for it as He prunes it eliminating the dead and useless branches. Those things that would drag you down and rob you of nourishment. Though the pruning can be painful at times it will bring beauty to the mighty oak and life to its branches.

God shapes it to give it the maximum potential to grow and leaf out in the best possible way in season. When it matures it will bear GOOD fruit and will be a blessing to those around it.

God chose you before time began for this place and time. You are a representative of God’s kingdom here on earth, a planting of the Lord, a display His splendor. Just as you plant a tree that does well you enjoy it as it matures so God enjoys the work of His hand in and on you as His planting!

Romans 3:20 “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
