Beyond Me

by Steve Countryman
5/05/2017 / Christian Living

It is a realization that has taken me years just to begin to grasp. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The NEW me is far beyond the old me and far beyond me! For it is not about me, it is not about my life or what I feel or experience but it is totally about who Jesus is in and through me. It is about what He does through me His vessel that blows me away.

Just dealing with the daily struggles and troubles is beyond me. When I try to deal with it on my own I end up in a pit with my shovel in hand just digging my hole deeper. Instead of making any headway I find that with my very best effort all I have accomplished is a deeper hole with no way out. Realizing that ALL of my troubles are one way or another my own fault and it’s beyond me to remedy. One thing I have found to be very true is that on my own I am very good at making things worse.

Leaning on my own understanding is an act of foolishness. It is stating that “I can fix this without any help from anyone including God”, how totally STUPID! As a new creation I have found that the more I know God the more He is beyond me. God is beyond my understanding, beyond my knowledge, beyond my wisdom, beyond my comprehension, beyond my reasoning, beyond my common sense and beyond my grasp of what pure love is.

What I also came to know is the very best for me is found in His hands. For God’s ways are beyond me, beyond my abilities, beyond my capabilities, beyond my natural vision, beyond my feelings, beyond my reality, beyond my experiences, beyond my past, beyond my failures, flaws, faults and beyond my mistakes.

These scriptures best describes the meaning of “Beyond Me”… 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 9”But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

It isn’t being a “Super Christian” when the Holy Spirit moves through you just like you cannot boast or take credit for what God does through you! It was ALL God that moved mightily through you for you were only His chosen vessel. Just as a musical instrument cannot take credit for the music that comes out it but is only the instrument used to make the music. To the artist is the glory given and to God is ALL glory due!

So when problems, troubles, trials and tribulations surround you and are beyond you just take it the Master who knows how to “fix” ALL your needs! Then just praise and thank Him for His wonderful grace is sufficient for you!
