Stepping Into Danger

by Steve Countryman
5/13/2017 / Christian Living

Being distracted can be very dangerous. More than 6,000 pedestrian deaths occur in the U.S. each year and is growing. Of those pedestrians close to 7% were distracted by texting or using their cell phones. People who were so distracted they didn’t know they were stepping into danger. Some even stepped off of sidewalks and right into oncoming traffic. Since 2009 the distracted deaths have been steadily increasing each year. Thousands each year who survive end up needing medical attention.

Being distracted happens not only in the natural but in the supernatural. Distraction is one of Satan’s favorite tools that he uses. If he can get you distracted then he can control your attention. Once he has that he then can pull your attention off of God and God’s path for you and get you to concentrate totally on YOU!

You then shut out the rest of the world as you consider your own problems and troubles. All of your attention and time is spent on your needs, cares and worries. That is Satan’s plan by getting your attention off of God and helping/blessing others you are now consumed with your own problems. Your focus is inward and downward not aware of your next step. Danger is upon you as you travel right into harms way.

Other distractions that he uses are your past failures. Old temptations that are thrown at you to once again pull your attention away from fulfilling God’s destiny for your life. Even if it is for a little while he still robbed you by delaying your destiny. That is time that you can’t get back!

No one in their right mind would travel out into a raging storm but once you’re distracted the storm is all around you before you know it. You now try to find shelter from the wind, rain and cold as you try to wait out the storm. Once God steps in to rescue you then you realize how far off of God’s path you have traveled. God brings rays of sunshine and comfort with His rescue. You now appreciate the warm sun after the raging storm. What is so awesome about God is that He not only removes your sin but all stain and stench of it as well.

All paths that are wide and well traveled are not paths to God and are not His path for you! God’s path for you is level, smooth and firm ground. Those other paths are rocky, hilly, full of chuck-holes and miry sticky mud all meant to trap or at least delay you. Those paths are full of dangerous surprises that will hurt you, harm you, separate you from God and others and ultimately destroy you. An isolated, self-centered, selfish Christian is a useless Christian!

Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 4:26-27 26 “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.” Isaiah 26:7 The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.”

Pay careful attention to the ways of your path. Be diligent and stand firm by staying on God’s path. Your purpose for living, your reason for existing and for breathing is to serve Jesus as your Lord Master and Savior. Don’t let distractions cause you to step into danger and miss God’s destiny for your life!
