Got Children?

If you are a parent of adult children you’ll know where I’m coming from. In addition, you are truly blessed if you have the distinction of grand parenting.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward (Psalm 127:3 NKJV).”

The rewards are great. Children add much to our lives. There’s one drawback; they grow up. It’s only natural and right; we expect them to mature. Does it have to happen so fast?

Our daughter is nearing the half century mark and our son does not lag far behind. How can that be? Making us proud, our grandsons have grown into fine young men. Great granddaughters are growing at accelerated speed. Oh yes, children grow up.

Jesus, the Bethlehem babe grew…

“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40 NKJV).”

Jesus was compelled to do the work of His heavenly Father. At age twelve, He accompanied His parents on a trip to Jerusalem; there they parted company.  After searching for days, Mary and Joseph discovered Him inside the temple.

“And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’ But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men (Luke 2:49-52 NKJV).”
