Search Me, Wash Me, Cleanse Me

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Righteous… The state of being right with God; justification; the work of Christ, which is the ground of justification

So if righteousness is being “right” with God then unrighteousness is the direct opposite. Anything that is contrary to the Word of God is sin and therefore is unrighteous. So in addition to sin being unrighteous so is sickness and disease for they entered this world with sin and are a by-product and curse of sin.

When Jesus healed the paralytic man that was dropped down through the roof of the house that Jesus was teaching in Luke 5:17-20; the first thing that Jesus did was to say “Friend, your sins are forgiven”. By doing so Jesus removed the sins that were tied to the man’s paralytic condition. Now healing flowed and the man was healed!

I’m not saying that all sickness, disease and ailments are tied to sin just as the blind man that Jesus healed. John 9:1-3 1Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” Sickness and disease are part of this sinful world!

“He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” should be read as “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and He is faithful and just to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness, sickness and disease.” Sickness and disease are not part of God’s will, Word or ways and have no right to trespass in the temple of the Lord, your body!

If you have been seeking God for healing and/or deliverance then don’t allow your sins to hinder His healing touch. Pray 1 John 1:9 and ask God to search you. Surrender your life, past sins, addictions and sinful beliefs. Sinful beliefs are those sinful things that you support and justify in your life. Sinful lifestyle thinking like “shacking up”, homosexual marriage/living, transgenders, multiple wives and abortion are “ok” are just a few of those unrighteous beliefs that adds those sins to your life. That is harboring unrighteousness that you need to hand over to the Lord.

Ask Him to wash you. To be washed in the blood of the Lamb and free from all snares of those sins that try to torment you. The sins that want to ensnare you and drag you back into your past. The blood that Jesus shed for us on the cross can wash you “white as snow”!

Then ask Him to cleanse you. Cleansed of all stain and stench of sin that goes to the deepest part of your soul! Removing ALL “stinking thinking” lies and deception that wants to distract and destroy you. Then the perfect white robe of righteousness that God clothes you with will be your shining glory!  "By His stripes you were healed" becomes By His stripes you were cleansed!
