I went to the Nursing Home to visit an old saint who was now 100 years old!

She has a sound mind and a heart of gold!

 

She says she feels like she is in a prison with no rights of her own!

She says she feels abandoned and all alone!

 

I visit her every Thursday a few hours before the Bingo Party at five.

I stop and purchase snacks and punch for that party before I arrive.

 

Today she talked about relatives and the past.

And about those good old times that never last!

 

She asked me if I could get songs on that thing, pointing at my phone?

I answered yes, and what's your choice of song?

 

She said; Have you ever heard "ONE DAY AT A TIME"? "ITS MY FAVORITE!"

And what happened after that compelled me to write this rhyme!

 

I did a search for the song and I found it fast.

It was sung by Christy Lane with a lot of class!

 

The old saint was sitting in her wheelchair with her head bowed down.

As I held my smart phone up to her ear so she could hear the sound!

 

I was standing, looking down from above her bowed head.

And she and I listened to the words Christy Lane sang and said!

 

As "One Day At A Time" began to play...

I felt the Presence of God and I began to pray!

 

I prayed, "Lord, Please love on this dear old soul!

She has walked many miles and she is very old!

 

I was standing looking down over her bowed head as her hands in her lap tapped with the beat!

Her right foot tapped too and the view gripped my soul and was so sweet!

 

I hope I helped make her day because she certainly made mine!

And we both felt the Power of The Devine!

 

This might not seem like a big deal to you!

But she and I felt the Creator beyond the blue! 

 

When the song ended she raised her head with tear filled eyes!

And I'll never forget those "Special", tender moments together with her, that made this man more wise!

Her 100th birthday marked 36,500 days on this earth!

Most of us will never make it that far!

Also the only meds Katherine takes is vitamin B-12!

She can see very good without glasses!

She has all her teeth!

She bathes herself!

Makes her own bed!

Dresses herself!

Feeds herself!

Loves making photo collages!

Can remember minute details of long ago!

She stays bored at the nursing home with no real activities available!

Oh, Be sure the nursing home activities abound on paper but in reality are mostly non existent!

I know myself because my mother spent eight years in the same facility!

WHAT GOES ON IN MANY,MANY NURSING HOMES IS CRIMINAL!

THIS NURSING HOME KATHERINE IS IN HAS BEEN FINED AND WRITTEN UP FOR VIOLATIONS REPEATEDLY!

THE LOCAL NEWS PAPER BEARING WITNESS!

THE SAD THING WITH KATHERINE IS HER FAMILY AND THE ONE WITH GUARDIANSHIP OVER HER BELIEVE THE NURSING HOME MANAGEMENT OVER KATHERINE!

 

BUT THE FINES AND REPEATED VIOLATIONS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!

 

I COULD GO ON AND ON!

I KNOW THIS!

ONE DAY ALL THE NURSING HOME OWNERS ACROSS AMERICA WHO ABUSE/NEGLECT THESE PEOPLE TO INCREASE THEIR BOTTOM LINE HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL WAITING FOR THEM!

I went to see Katherine again
today 11/24/2017.
The day after THANKSGIVING.
Katherine said she had no 
calls or visitors at all on 
Thanksgiving!
Her relatives pretty much 
ignored her.
I sat and talked with her 
for about an hour and a half.
I am blessed by the conversations
we have!
It is a moral crime to abandon
family when they get put into
a Nursing Home!
Katherine said an old song 
came to her called 
"ONLY BELIEVE". I pulled it up 
on my smart phone and let her
listen to it.
Then she called the name of 
another song, 
"THER IS NO SECRET WHAT GOD CAN DO".
I let her listen to it as well. 
Then I looked at the clock 
as the song ended and I needed
to say goodbye.
She raised her head when the 
song ended looking at me with 
tears in her eyes!
She said "Thank you, 
you made my day!"
Folks, you could not put a 
price on her words and 
the tears in her eyes!

SHE MADE MY DAY TOO!

Her relatives don't know what
they are missing by leaving this 
old Saint in this Nursing Home!
One day Jesus will come and 
get her and she won't be a
 "burden" anymore!
