Her Apology - Twenty-Three Years Later

by Tesse Wilson
10/26/2017 / Christian Living

Twenty-three years later he got a message from her

She made brief disclosures and said she was sorry

He was happy to hear from her

Yet he was upset when he learned the truth

That she had felt the same way he did

But she was now saying this twenty-three years later

As he reflected

He felt anger

The way she behaved back then left him with the impression that she rejected him

He read her message again

Looking for words that he longed to hear her say

They were not on the page

The feelings were mutual she said

Did she mean she was crazy about him as he was about her?

Because twenty-three ago her actions did not show it

Hmm! Richard sighed and thought to himself;

Her words are quite formal and vague

How dare she just pops up requesting that I accept her apology

Did she really consider how I would feel?

Yes, I moved on but with the hurt

Men hurt too

Did she know that I was truly in love with her?

It was never infatuation

Mixed emotions are now what Richard has towards her

He wants to forgive her

But there is a struggle as he remembers the way she treated him

He has decided that he will not respond to her

He will ignore her request for him to indicate that he accepted her apology

He wondered if it is sincere

Since she did not say what he really wanted to hear

When she realized that he read it but did not respond

She understood then what if feels like to be ignored

Not just by anyone but someone you care about

Twenty -three years ago she had done the same to him and thought it would never affect him

After all, males don't take such things to heart she had reasoned

They move on,

This is not always true

Boys and men have feelings too

What should she do?

She did not want to impose herself upon him, hence the tone of her apology

How could she reach out to him without compromising her faith and Christian values?

She feels it is unfair for her to take all the blame

She must pray for him not just to forgive her; but that he comes to know the Lord who is healing her

For she lived for many years with the same hurt he felt

Heavenly Father, please heal Richard for my past actions have hurt him...

Let him know that you have never ignored him

From heaven, your eyes have always been upon him

Draw him to yourself

Let him experience the depth of your love for him

For your love is greater than the love a woman can have for a man

Greater than the love a man can feel for a woman

Greater than a mother's love for her child

Your love lifts us

Just a few words from her prayer

She wishes he could hear

Just to know she is sincere
