JUDGING?

JUDGING?

VERY volatile topic which IS addressed in the Word of God....

If you saw a neighbors house on fire, you would go and make sure they were not inside, wouldn't you? I would want a neighbor to come to me the same as I would want a brother or sister to come if I was walking dangerously close to the edge and about to fall off.... not done with this topic  and praying for words and His wisdom to finish writing it. Had to post what I have so far as this is so needed these days of many taking offence and walking straight into the enemy's arms.

"Fruit inspector" scriptures

God have given us guidelines on being "fruit inspectors" in His word. This is not an exhaustive list but a beginning. So many now, seem to yell "you're judging me" or "don't judge them..." but there are verses which address what we are supposed to do as believers. Hope to write a much needed and more in depth article on this topic soon. Marijo

1 Thessalonians 5:22King James Version (KJV)

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Consider this exhortation in I Corinthians 5:9-13:

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—

not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.

But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you" (NIV).

Here Paul instructs the Corinthians to judge those within the church. They must also judge those who are not in the church in the sense of evaluation, or otherwise how would we know that they are immoral, greedy, etc.? There can actually be no true relationships without judgment that is evaluation. We are judging others all of the time whether we realize it or call it that or not. What we must learn to do is judge righteously, or rightly. This begins with not trying to assume things we really don’t know about the motives of others. It also applies to judging those who are within our sphere of authority, as Paul is pointing out to the Corinthians in the text above.

Matthew 7:14-16

New King James Version (NKJV)

14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?

Psalm 66:18

If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.

1 Corinthians 6:3-12

New King James Version (NKJV)

3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? 4 If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!

7 Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? 8 No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Glorify God in Body and Spirit

12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

James 5:19-20New King James Version (NKJV)

Bring Back the Erring One

19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul[a] from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Corinthians 5:12-13New King James Version (NKJV)

12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

Ephesians 5:8-21New King James Version (NKJV)

Walk in Light

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit[a] is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

Walk in Wisdom

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Just some quick thoughts on being a fruit inspector from God's Word.
