When Fruit Goes Bad

by PamFord Davis
5/31/2018 / Devotionals

There is good fruit… then again, there is bad fruit.

It is usually easy to tell the difference.

When fruit goes bad, it loses firmness. If left out in the open it draws flies; eventually, maggots will appear.

Spiritually speaking; there is godly fruit… then again, there is deadly fruit!

“Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (Romans 7:4-6 KJV).”

Paul wrote a ‘letter’ to the Galatians. His message on fruit (like the entire Bible) was divinely inspired.

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:19-25 KJV).”
