How important are the words that you speak? Matthew 12:36 But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak.” Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.”

We are created in God”s image. God SPOKE the universe into creation. That means that we who are His children also have power in the words that we speak. How important does it become to speak your prayers out loud? How more important is it to declare God’s Word out loud as part of your prayers?

To take God’s Word and personalize it by changing some of the words to the first person helps to make it more intimate and powerful to the one speaking it. Also you can change some words so that God is speaking directly to you, is also very powerful and personal. Here are some examples…

Here is the verse as it appears in scripture… Deuteronomy 28:8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.” Now read it out loud with these few changes… “I the Lord send blessings on your barns of finance and on everything you put your hand to. I the Lord your God bless you in the land I give you.” That is taking God’s Word and personalizing as if God was speaking directly to you!

Here is another way… “You Lord send blessings on my barns of finance and on everything that I put my hand to. You Lord my God bless me in the land that you give me.” When spoken out loud these examples are powerful, personal and meaningful as God’s promises are yes and amen!

Just praying out loud and speaking directly to God by using the word you brings a closeness to your prayers. “You Lord are my King.” “You Lord are my deliverer.” You Jesus are my Lord and Master.” “You are my savior and rescuer.” “You Father God watch over me and provide for me.” You are my victory over sin.” “You are my hero and healer.” You Holy Spirit guide and direct me to stay on your path.” “You gracious One are the lover of my soul!” “You the perfect One always knows what’s best for me. “You Holy One are made strong in my weaknesses.” “You merciful One do not hold my sins against me.” “You powerful One causes galaxies to collide with the flick of your pinky are my everything!” You O Lord are the One I love and the One whom I am in love with!” “Blessed be the name of the Lord!” “AMEN!”

Declaring His Word out loud for others the same way makes them more powerful to the hearer also! Besides, don’t you think that it is a great idea that Satan should be reminded of God’s Word as YOU declare it our loud?
