The Power In The Word Of God

by Ngozi Nwoke
8/20/2018 / Christian Living

For how long can you hold unto the word of God? God's word is able to deliver whatever it says it would do. The question is do you believe it to the point of holding unto it till it delivers? This post aims at pointing out how powerful the word of the Lord is.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it - Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV).

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart - Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV).

The word of the Lord shall accomplish what He pleases and it must prosper in whatsoever He had sent it. The issue is you believing that it will be so in your own life. Many people believe the threats of the enemy more than what the Almighty had said. The words of the enemy will not work on you except you believe it just like God's word will not work for you except you believe it.

Where there is faith, the word of Christ will never fail, even if it tarries. It has the ability to attend to every part of you, everything that concerns you spirit, soul and body. It is living, powerful and very sharp, nothing touches it and remains the same. Every word of God received is a done deal, even if it takes a while for it to be accomplished.

Abraham received the word that he would have a son at 75 years, he believed it and did not waver with unbelief until it was accomplished in his life at the age of 100 years (Romans 4:16-21). He was too sure that the Lord's word was able to deliver. He also received the word that he and his descendants would become great even when he had no child and it was so. When the Almighty God demanded Isaac for a sacrifice, he obeyed immediately believing that He is able to raise Isaac anyhow since the promise was with Isaac. He believed every word he heard from God and they were all accomplished in his life, this earned him the name 'the father of faith."

You are to receive the word as it is said or written, don't try to analyze or reason out how it would be (Proverbs 3:5), that's not your job. Your job is to believe God till the word is established in your life, it must prosper in you. People may call you names, don't mind them. What will you listen to, God's word or their word? Abraham started answering to "father of many nations" when he had only one child to show for it (Genesis 17:4-6). But his children now cannot be counted: both spiritual and physical.

When God declares a thing, everything related to it must align to ensure its fulfillment. For instance, when Jesus asked Peter to go to the sea, that the first fish will have a coin, the fish positioned itself while the others kept away for the word of God to be fulfilled. Peter went and the first fish he caught had a coin (Matthew 17:24-27). Before this, Peter had toiled all night with some people and caught nothing. But, when Christ said launch into the deep and fish, and Peter obeyed at His word, all the fishes came running from everywhere to be caught by Peter and his friends (Luke 5:4-7). Another time, Peter asked Jesus to bid him come on the water if He was Jesus, and Jesus said "Come." Immediately the surface of the water became hard as long as Peter was holding unto the spoken word (Matthew 14:25-31). What God says He watches to fulfill.

In conclusion, the scriptures are God's words in print; therefore, any word you believe will surely come to pass in your life. Also, if the Lord says a word to you like He did to Abraham, believe it, hold unto it for it will surely come to pass. Truly, the word of God is powerful and will do mighty things in the life of anyone who believes it and does not waver till it is fulfilled in his or her life.
