All My Days Are Written In His Book

by Pam Frey
9/21/2007 / Christian Living

I feel I must share this part of my testimony in writing this article. In 1999 I went to prison and served six and a half calendar years behind a razorwire fence. I rededicated my life to Him and came to a place of total surrender to His will. This was a time that God used to really do a deep work in my heart. I had nothing but time to spend with God and develop a deep and intimate relationship with the Living God. There is no lasting emotional calm apart from intimacy with Jesus. He became so real to me.

The last six months of my life have been some of the hardest times I've had in a while. I had a beautiful baby girl April 13, 2007. Just about a month before my daughter was born, my husband lost his job and we had to move. He has had a difficult time finding work that will give us an income that allows me to stay home and be a mother and pay the bills at the same time. Emotionally calm? What's that?

Psalm 139:16 (Amplified) Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. I quote this scripture because recently the Lord has really been teaching me about remaining emotionally stable and at peace no matter what the circumstances of life may be at the moment. In searching the Faithwriter's website and finding the Writer's Challenge, I had to laugh when I read the topic, Calm (Emotionally). He knows exactly where we are, what we're going through, what we need and when we need it. Writing this article at this time in my life is certainly no coincidence.

We all face storms in life. Matthew 14:22-26 (Amplified) Then He directed the disciples to get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent away the crowds. And after He had dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was still there alone. But the boat was by this time out on the sea, many furlongs [a furlong is one-eighth of a mile] distant from the land, beaten ad tossed by the waves, for the wind was against them. (Does that sound familiar?) And in the fourth watch [between 3:00 6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright. But instantly He spoke to them saying, Take courage! I AM! Stop being afraid! There is no need to lose our emotional calmness when we know that Jesus is Lord over the storm!

We can remain in emotional calmness only when we keep control of our thought life. (Philippians 4:6-8) What we allow ourselves to meditate on is what will dominate our emotions. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in Thee.

I'm sure you know the story of Martha and Mary and the death of their brother Lazarus. (Luke 10:38-41)Martha was troubled about many things. She was concerned about preparing all the food for all the quests and all the things that needed to be done. But Mary knew the only way she was going to find the peace she needed in this sorrowful time in her life was sitting at the feet of her Lord, listening to Him. How often we run around with troubled hearts trying to "do something" because we feel like life will fall apart if we don't. When the most needful thing is to sit at the feet of our Lord and allow Him to fill us with His wisdom and peace. We would be much more productive if we would take the time to find our peace in our time at Jesus feet. It boils down to trust. However, there is no real trust if there is no real intimacy. The only way to experience real peace and calm is to know the Prince of Peace.

God Bless and may His peace be multiplied to you as you grow in the knowledge of Him.

I am a passionate lover of Jesus. My desire in writing is to share that passion with others in hopes that they too will catch on FIRE.
