Leaping Lena

by PamFord Davis
10/08/2018 / Devotionals

'Leaping Lena’ was a famed racing pigeon.

Though the pigeon’s story is very interesting, I focus only on the catchy name. At 69, I don’t believe I’m able to leap; I might manage a hop or jump. Did Superman come to mind?

He was known to leap tall buildings but he had fictional power from the sun.

We rely on powers from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit has even compelled the unborn to leap for JOY.

“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.  And she cried out with a loud voice and said, ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!  And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?  For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy (Luke 1:41-44 NASB).”

God’s healing power transformed a man from beggar to believer. He began to leap!

“When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, ‘Look at us!’ And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, ‘I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!’ And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God (Acts 3:3-8 NASB).”
