This Poor Widow
by PamFord Davis
10/15/2018 / Devotionals
“And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, ‘Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had (Luke 21:1-4 NKJV).”
Jesus told that story about a poor widow.
Widows are in our midst.
The widows ‘might’…
Widows might need a warm embrace.
Widows might need a listening ear.
Widows might need a shoulder to cry on.
Widows might need financial assistance.
Widows might need a man to help with home or car repairs.
Widows might need a note, card or a call of encouragement.
Widows might need an invitation to dinner or a movie.
Widows might need a respite if they have young children.
Widows might need time to heal their broken hearts.
We might not know what widows need most at any given time.
We might need to take the time to ask.
“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world (James 1:27 NKJV).”
