Praise Portions

by PamFord Davis
10/18/2018 / Devotionals

Mom used to say our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. That was her way of telling us we put more on our plates than we could possibly eat. As a result good food went to waste. We should have taken smaller portions of food. On the other hand, ‘praise portions’ never go to waste.

“Praise the Lord, all nations;
Laud Him, all peoples!

For His lovingkindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the Lord is everlasting.

Praise the Lord (Psalm 117:1-2 NASB)!”

The LORD is worthy of praise.

“Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3 NASB).”

As LORD God, He alone is worthy of worship.

“You shall not fear other gods, nor bow down yourselves to them nor serve them nor sacrifice to them. But the Lord, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, and to Him you shall bow yourselves down, and to Him you shall sacrifice (2 Kings 17:35b-36 NASB).”

To Him… we give honor and praise.

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.'

And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

‘Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created (Revelation 4:8b-11 NASB).”
