Backhanded Compliment

That guy’s squirrely!

That might be a backhanded compliment. Though it implies idiocy and lack of stability there is another point to be made. Bring humor into the picture. Squirrels are tenacious in hording their cache of nuts; yet, they make time to frolic with friends.

Time is a commodity. I can withdraw a few minutes from my memory bank. Early one morning, I viewed two playful squirrels in my back yard. I believe collecting fallen acorns or pecans was the last thing on their minds. Instead, they passed the time playing together.

Can I as easily segue from work to play?

God has prepared work for me to do.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them (Ephesians 2:10 NASB).”

Work is good. I need time for fun and laughter too.

“A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance (Ecclesiastes 3:4 NASB).”
