They Can't See Him (Col 1:15)

Col. 1:15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

A Sunday school teacher was talking to her class of three to four-year-olds. She said they needed to pray to Jesus every day, that they should love Him with their whole heart. One little girl looked up with concern in her eyes and said, “But I can’t see him.”

Therein lies the problem for many people. People do not want to believe in anything they cannot see, feel, or hear.

Jesus calls us to evangelism. In Mark 16 he says “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” But where do we begin? How do you share your faith in an invisible God?

Our communities and institutions push God out. They don’t want any reminders or even any mention of God. They take religious icons away from public view and remove prayer and Bible study from public education. They separate God from every area of public life possible. They promote evolution instead of creation. They argue, ridicule, and belittle every Christian who tries to tell them the truth about God and that he is alive. All of this because they cannot prove His existence in a way that is physical.

But, the one thing they cannot fight against, change, or disagree with is your story of salvation. It is your story. You lived it, they didn’t. You can tell them of your miracles, your relationship with Jesus, the gifts He has given you, the change in your life since He came into your heart. It doesn’t matter whether they believe your story or whether they agree or disagree. 

No matter where you are, God can use your story to bring someone else out of the darkness and into His marvelous light! When you accepted Christ, no matter how dramatic the change in your life, or how little, someone needs to hear it.

Three things to remember:

• God will open opportunities for you to share your story of salvation
• Your job is to share what happened to you when you accepted Christ as your Savior
• It’s Gods job to change the heart of the listener

It is the Holy Spirit who draws people, convicts, and saves them, you are just the tool He uses. So when people ask you how you can believe in an invisible God, Just say:

              “Well, let me tell you what He did for me….”
