DIVINE LIFTING

Scriptural Reading: I Samuel 2:6-8

‘‘But God is the Judge! He puts down one and lifts up another.’’ Psalm 75:7 (AMPC)

There was this nice friend of mine that we taught together way back then in Benin City Nigeria, in one of the private schools and the salary was so meagre and was far less than 57 dollars per month. The young man graduated from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, from the Department of Geology to be précised. As young friends, God was our hope and chief support. Before you know it, the Almighty God lifted him up and gave him a job in one of the multinationals (Crude oil Exploration Company) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He got married and God blessed the union with children, both boys and girls and has worked in several multinationals. This was how he was miraculously lifted by God and salary wise, we never became neighbours.

In our scriptural reading where we took our text from in the book of I Samuel 2:6-8, no condition is permanent. God can lift up a poor fellow and make that fellow become wealthy while He can also bring down the wealthy to a zero level. He knows how to pattern the lives of the poor and make them comfortable and can cause the helpless to ascend above those that are ahead of them. God lifts people up every day from shame and sufferings.

God is the lifter of our heads and has unusual strength for raising people from pitiable state to a level of beautification. As the children of God, let us hold on to the only one that can lift up and never brings down.

Have we been frustrated by our present state of financial and academic embarrassment? Let us bring all our heart desires before the King of kings, the one that can exalt the horn of our unicorn and let us hold on to this scripture on a daily basis for divine lifting. ‘‘To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.’’ Job 5: 11 (KJV)

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, you alone understand my present situation better than I do, grant me your divine lifting and favour, so that all my labour and struggling can come to an end speedily. Amen.

When people are lifted up by God, their shame and sorrows are left behind as they move a step ahead of others.
