THE DIVINE HEARS AND ANSWERS

Scriptural Reading: Exodus 2:23-25

‘‘And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.’’  Exodus 2:24 (KJV).

The cry of an afflicted individual is an expression of helplessness. Such an individual needs urgent attention for a divine rescue mission. When a fellow is in bondage, that person is at the mercy of a higher force, while moments of freedom are being denied. This is a state that calls for divine timely intervention.

The children of Israel were in bondage under the regime of Pharaoh. Their bitter experience was with pains and tears as a result of the hard bondage they went through in the hands of their taskmasters (slave riders). Their conditions were quite deplorable and they had to cry unto God for help and He heard them and delivered them. Afflictions cause pains’ and may even lead to psychological trauma that may throw one off balance.

God is a great deliverer and whenever there is a cry to Him from humankind, He answers. Our pains are His pains and He does not want the enemy to have upper hand over us. See what the psalmist said in Psalm 22:5 (KJV), ‘‘They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.’’ As many that put their trust in God, He will never fail them and whenever there is a cry from us He comes to our rescue. Any ugly situation confronting God’s people is usually taken away if they cry unto him. Keeping quiet over that oppressor will lead to further oppression and a cry unto God for that situation will lead to a dethronement today. He hears faster when we cry to Him in prayers.

Dear father, as you heard the cry of the children of Israel while they were in bondage in Egypt and you delivered them, hear my cry today and let every wilderness experience of my life that I have found myself come to an end in Jesus name. Amen.

The end of a bitter experience is the homepage of jubilee and rest.
