THE DIVINE PILGRIMS

Scriptural Reading: I Peter 2:11-14

For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. I Chronicles 29:15 (KJV)

The journey through the earth is once and all humankind are like birds of passage. That is why the book of I John 2:15-17 has told us not to love this world and everything in this world would definitely pass away and anyone that does the will of God will abide forever, meaning hereafter one will be able to spend eternity in Heaven with God.

From our scriptural reading where we took our text from in the book of I Peter 2:11-14 reminded us again that we are strangers and we would have to shun evil desires which may be in the form of sexual immoralities, lies, fraudulent engagements etc. All these have been designed by Satan to trap the souls of humankind in Hell. We have to watch all our morale conducts so that our deeds will enable people to glorify God on our behalf, as pilgrims God also wants us to submit to constituted authorities whether governmental or religious, so that at the end of our stay here on earth we will not have issues with our Lord Jesus Christ when He will return again.

God is a righteous father of all ages and He has designed this world to only be in one phase. He wants us to make our journeys here on earth to be hitch-free devoid of unrighteous tendencies by not allowing ourselves to align with the dictates of this world.

How can we make our journeys smooth to eternity in Heaven from this present world as pilgrims that want to see Jesus Christ someday? The way out as believers is for us to remain focus on Christ as the author of eternal salvation. Here is our anchor scripture we can always apply on a daily basis as pilgrims on a pilgrimage. ‘‘Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;’’ I Peter 1:13 (KJV). This means that as pilgrims we have to keep our fingers crossed and endure till the end. Life on earth is short and full of vanity. We came empty and we will return empty.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, every area I have lived as a citizen of this world, have mercy upon me and help me through your Holy Spirit Divine to start seeing myself as a stranger in this world and to behave myself wisely in all my dealings. Amen

Strangers are not permanent settlers and the journey through the earth is only once.
