LEADERSHIP THROUGH DIVINE COURAGE

Scriptural Reading: Deuteronomy 31:6-8

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

Pastor Paul Rika, the international director of the Holiness Revival Movement, Nigeria, is one of the few pastors I have come to terms with. He is a preacher of holiness and a courageous pastor who is bold and fearless. His preaching is on how people can make Heaven. He is not after money, fame or materialistic tendencies. He has impacted on my life positively and God is with him. In II Chronicles 28:20, David told his son Solomon to be courageous in doing the work of the service of the house of God and never to be afraid for God would be with him until he finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

From our scriptural reading where we took our text from in the book of Deuteronomy 31:6-8, Moses told Joshua to be courageous so that he would be able to lead the children of Israel to the Promised Land. When a leader is courageous, such a leader would be able to lead the followers effectively. There are times when temptations and trials will come, one or two followers may be unruly and discouragement may set in, one may feel like walking away, but the ability to be strong and to manage both the good and the bad aspect of any humankind makes one a courageous leader.

God Almighty is a God that is fearless and courageous in leading all manner of humankind and He is patient at all times. He wants us to learn from Him and to be like Him in terms of courage, being bold and fearless when preaching His word and when leading others, in order to have a better result and a good testimony.

Is there any benefit of being as courageous as a leader?  The answer is YES. This is an anchor scripture we can pray with on a daily basis as one who is leading others. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.’ Psalms 31:24 (KJV). When we are courageous, God strengthens our hearts to achieve success.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, cause me to be courageous and remove the spirit of fear and timidity from me and make me a good leader. Amen

When courage is lost, success is far from possibility.
