Jesus Black, Jesus White, Church Saturday, Church Sunday. Who Cares?

by Angeline Williams
4/13/2019 / Christian Apologetics

For the past few days I have been seeing an onslaught of dangerous beliefs posted when I scroll my Facebook page. There are some who strongly argue that Jesus was black and there are those who believe that we are to worship on Saturday, that we are to walk inside a building backwards after 6 pm and so on and so on. I wish I could say that I do not want to come against anyone’s belief, but I can’t really say that because a lie is a lie, it is dangerous and at the root of a lie is Satan. I do, however, want to say that this article is not intended to anger or alienate anyone, but to expose incorrect doctrines that have the power to destroy Christians.

The internet is a place where all sorts of opinions flourish. It can be used for God’s glory, but it can also be used by Satan for destruction. If you are on Facebook you’ve probably seen all sorts of beliefs as I have. Normally I ignore them,
however there are some posts that are so blatantly from the enemy that I will occasionally comment on them, especially if it is a post from someone who has said that they were Christian because it is possible that new Christians and non-believers who are seeking Truth will read the post and believe a lie just because someone who says that they are a Christian said it. This is very dangerous for a new believer or a nonbeliever who is searching for The Truth (John 14:6). So, for their benefit I share the truth if allowed. Many times the comment is deleted or something is said so silly as “I am a plant of Satan to keep people in darkness” is posted in response, but that is okay because I’ve pretty much heard it all when standing up for Truth.

A few years ago I was friends with a certain person who I thought was Christian when I met them in several online groups. I would watch their posts and comment often, but then I noticed that their words and belief began to change. I was blown away by their posts and pictures and
newfound belief which had nothing to do with Christianity, but all about Jesus was black and the venom that flowed was terrible. There was no love, no mercy and no other fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). There was no distinction of them from a racist or white supremacist. This was a black person who hated everyone: women, homosexuals, white people, and black people who liked white people and more, but they were saying they were Christian. I could not believe what was happening before my eyes. I was so shocked all I could do was say Jesus help them.

Paul dealt with something similar and talks about it in Galatians 3:1-14. The Galatians had been saved through Paul’s preaching, but something happened to the Galatians. Seemingly all of a sudden, they began to bring the old rules and traditions of Judaism into their new faith, and began counting on those rules for part of their salvation. I get the impression that Paul too was astonished and heartbroken when he said to them, "O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?" (Galatians 3:1) Their belief in a different gospel meant that they were no longer Christians, so this is a serious matter and Paul spoke about it to show them where they were in error. There eternal destiny was on the line, which is how I have felt over the past few days.

Some say that because I believe in the Jesus of the Gospel that I am have been bewitched and that’s fine. I will stand on my belief that Jesus was crucified (no matter what color he is) for my sin and rose on the third day for my redemption and by faith I am saved and have eternal life, and I will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth every day, not just Saturday or Sunday.

Satan’s goal is to keep saints fighting and arguing against each other and their eyes off Jesus Christ and lead them to hell. This tactic of Satan that people so easily fall for is sad. Seriously, if Jesus’ skin color or complexion were important and our eternal life depended on that then God would have told us about them, but He did not. If it mattered that we worship on Saturday or Sunday, then clearly the God who is wise enough to create man in His own image and create the universe with all its diversities and hold it together for thousands of years would not have left something so important out of the Bible. What does matter is that you understand that “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Salvation is only found in Him, by faith in what He has done on the Cross (Ephesians 2:8). 1st Timothy 1:4 - 4 warns CHRISTIANS, not to devote ourselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. Titus 3:9 tell CHRISTIANS to avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.

Bible prophecy is being fulfilled right before our very eyes. Jesus is coming. Satan is using religion to steal, kill and destroy. I encourage you to get
with the Jesus Christ of the Bible and learn of Him through His Holy Spirit that you may rejoice in the freedom that His cross experience has made available to you. Remember, no matter how common sin becomes in our society, the severity of it has not diminished one iota in God’s judgment. The result/wages of sin is death. So, stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made you free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)
