SETTLING IN A DIVINE LOCATION

by ONOME OGBAJIBREDE
4/17/2019 / Devotionals

Scriptural Reading: Ruth 1:1-7

‘‘And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),’’ Acts 17: 26 (AMPC).

I shared this story before in one of my devotional write up of how my intention was to settle in Lagos, Nigeria but God’s plan for me was to settle in Abuja, Nigeria. I listened to God and He brought me to Abuja, Nigeria. It was in Abuja that I got a job, got married and became a better Christian and has received a lot of spiritual information that has helped me to stand in God’s vineyard, and I am very happy for what God is doing in my life spiritually. If I had deviated from this location, I would have been living in frustration to date. We bless God for His mercies, faithfulness, and love showed to me and my family so far for being in the right location.

The book of Ruth 1:1-7 was an explicit case of moving into a wrong location without consulting with God. Elimelech was a victim of this lot. He left his country with his family for greener pasture in a wrong location; there he lost his life and the lives of his two sons. They spent ten years in this wrong location and the bereaved wife of Elimelech had to return with Ruth to their original land where they ran from.

God is a master planner and He has orchestrated our various places of settlements and He wants us to always consult with Him whenever we are trying to relocate elsewhere for His divine direction whether to go or not. All that glitters are not gold. There is no safety anywhere except only in the word of God. Relocation is not bad, but we have to involve God to lead us to the place He has prepared for us, where His protection and favour can be upon us always. With God, there is no wrong location.

How do we know that we are in the wrong location?  One of such signs comes with a lack of fulfillment and inner struggle within us, and peace is far from our inner spirit. In making choices about the right location, we can apply this scripture on a daily basis in our prayers for God to always lead us. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.  Psalms 32:8 (KJV).We have to ask God for divine direction when trying to relocate.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, every wrong location I am in with my family, deliver us and take us to the right place you have ordained for us through your Holy Spirit Divine. Amen

Right location hangs on fulfillment and results in lesser problems.
