STILL TRUSTING THE DIVINE

by ONOME OGBAJIBREDE

Scriptural Reading: Habakkuk 3:17-19

‘‘Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.’’ Job 13:15 (KJV)

Brother Dele graduated from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He is tall and has the physique of a basketballer. Some time ago, we got talking and he said something that struck me. He said if God gives him a cripple to marry that he would marry the cripple as a wife, knowing fully well that whatever comes from God is the best. This is a great level of trust for God. However, when God gave him a life partner, he said on a very good day that he would not be able to approach this kind of a lady. When we trust God and believe in Him for the impossible, He will do amazing things we cannot imagine. That means God surprised brother Dele with a very beautiful wife with good character.

Prophet Habakkuk made up his mind that he would trust in God no matter the condition, whether good or bad, even when things are not working well that he would still rejoice in the Lord. When we trust in the Lord, He would make the journey of our lives to be smooth even when there are difficulties, He would make a way of escape for us.

God is reliable and He is dependable at all times. As many that put their trust in Him are not being put to shame. He wants us to put all our trust in Him and not to look elsewhere for help. He may appear to be slow, but when He acts, He does great things and He gives testimony at the end of every dark day.

Can one trust in this living God and still be molested by life’s challenges? NO. When we read more about people who trusted in the Lord at various times when life was at low ebb and God did not fail them, then, trusting God is worth it. Secondly, here is a supporting scripture we can hold on to and apply on a daily basis to trust in God. ‘‘O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.’’ Psalms 25:2 (KJV)

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, increase my level of trust for you and let shame be far from my domain through your Holy Spirit Divine. Amen

When trust is absent, mockery becomes a show of shame.
