Beginning of Knowledge

by PamFord Davis
6/03/2019 / Devotionals

I remember my junior and senior high school days. As I recall, the day was divided up into 7 class periods. In 1st period, I began to settle into my daily routine.

In 7th... I watched the clock.

“The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:

To know wisdom and instruction,
To perceive the words of understanding,
To receive the instruction of wisdom,
Justice, judgment, and equity;
To give prudence to the simple,
To the young man knowledge and discretion—
A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:1-7 NKJV).”

Fear (reverence of the LORD) is only the beginning of spiritual knowledge. That’s our 1st period class. God’s children are in a growing process; we have much to learn. I have a holy craving; a thirst to know Him better.

“… but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen (2 Peter 3:18 NKJV).”

I no longer listen for a school 7th period dismissal bell.

I’m waiting for His shout, the voice of an archangel and blow of the trumpet!

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV).”
