Rivers Are Dividing Lines

The LORD deals so often in parallels.  And rivers give life, as Ezekiel 47:9 states: "And wherever the double river shall go, every living creature which swarms shall live. And there shall be a very great number of fish, because these waters go there that [the waters of the sea] may be healed and made fresh; and everything shall live wherever the river goes."   

Returning from my teaching job in a different county the other day, I crossed the river.  As I drove over the bridge, I entered home turf, and the though came, “Rivers are dividing lines.”  

Just as this river established differing territories, so does the River of the Spirit.

 My husband and I have been focusing more on Isaiah 48:17 and 18 the past few months. We desire to hear and obey the LORD’s Voice, and enjoy His peace and prosperity flowing through our lives like a river!    

Isaiah 48:18: "Oh, that you had hearkened to My commandments! Then your peace and prosperity would have been like a flowing river, and your righteousness [the holiness and purity of the nation] like the [abundant] waves of the sea."  

Psalm 36:8 –  NIV: "They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights." 

My dad, who was raised on a farm on the river bottoms in south Arkansas, said, “You can see things at the river that you can’t see anywhere else.”  

Revelation 22:1 says, "Then he showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb."   

I trust that, now that Dad has been in Heaven for over a year, He has experienced the ultimate River and knows more of the depth of that prophetic statement that still rings in my heart.
