CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE BIBLE

by ralph jackson
2/03/2020 / Bible Studies

I recently watched a couple of good video’s on YouTube by Pastor Stephen Bohr, and Pastor Walter Veith, which changed my opinion about climate change and why the media is failing to give a true picture. I say failing but it may well be deliberate to mislead us into believing all the doomsday hype!

So is all this talk about the impending apocalypse caused by climate change real?  Are we heading for some catastrophic ‘end of the world’ scenario, which has been caused by humans through the wasting of the earth’s natural resources and the use of too much  fossil fuel?

As a former Energy Manager/Advisor, which I did for some 10 years prior to retirement, I was convinced, through all my training, courses and my day-day work that human activity was the prime cause of all the CO2 emissions and it was my responsibility, all but in a small way, to ensure I put the message out to everyone that we must do something to prevent the world from overheating and causing the climatic and  weather changes we are experiencing today.  I wrote several reports on on the buildings that I was responsible for and attended many meetings where I had to give an update on the progress of CO2 emissions.  Do I still believe humans are the prime cause of climate change?  Do I agree with the voices calling for more solutions to save the planet, who say they have the scientific data to prove their claims?   I will answer these questions as we go through my sermon today, however I do believe there is more to climate change and weather anomaly’s than we, as humans, currently understand.  What I must state however, is that trying to reduce CO2 emissions will not result in the saving of this planet.  In fact, if it were possible to reduce this trace gas, it would cause the opposite effect to our beautiful green planet.  Why?  Because CO2 is plant food, it’s what we breath out and trees absorb and contrary to all the science hype, it is NOT A TOXIN.

Who started the Climate Change argument?

It was Al Gore (former Vice President of the USA and environmentalist, after taking a course at Harvard University with Professor Roger Revelle, who was one of the first scientists to measure carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, that Gore became interested in climate change.   Gore initiated the first congressional hearing on the subject in 1981 (See Film - An Inconvenient Truth 2006). He produced a book in 1992 called: ‘Earth in the Balance’.  Although Gore argues that climate change is a moral issue, many believe it is a political issue to brainwash the masses into changing their habits and in doing so energy companies stand to gain millions of dollars.  However, the platform for climate change is not limited to politicians.  There are voices coming from environmentalists, the media, sports presenters, the World Wildlife Organisation, the United Nations, Hollywood actors, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Leonardo Di Caprio, who is the UN messenger of peace with special focus on the issue of climate change, both of whom are Roman Catholic and have visited the Pope to discuss climate change.  And of course everyone will have heard of the Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, who has become the voice of the youth for climate change.   Is the hysteria caused by this young lady’s media presence justified because our planet is doomed if we do nothing, or is there a more sinister underlying agenda to manipulate the minds of the masses into believing they can save the planet, especially the youth.

Is Climate Change real or imagined?

The climate has cyclical changes, as does the weather, therefore the answer is: ‘Yes’, the climate is changing, as is the weather, just as it has done for centuries.  Cold periods follow warmer periods so  we are not being told the whole story and maybe that is because those who are the most vocal either do not know the reasons why climate and weather patterns are changing or as I believe it is part of the Hegelian dialect to push forward an agenda, which is more than about saving this planet and as we go on today you will see the religious connection to all this.

Climate and Weather changes

There is definitely something happening with our planet’s climate today.  We have not seen such massive destruction from deluges of water in the form of Tsunamis’, destructive earthquakes, more volcanic eruptions, massive fires, powerful hurricanes, tornados and incredible extremes of droughts and massive rain storms as we have recently. You can Google many web sites on climate change and you will find both the for and against arguments.  On many of these sites, they blame human activity as the major cause for climate change, mainly through the burning of fossil fuels and motor transport but as I have stated, I do not believe this is the whole story?

Human Solutions

There have been many solutions put forward for individuals to do their part to help the planet and some of those solutions have merit.  As human stewards of our planet, we do have responsibility to care for it, but we are not its owners so we cannot control either the climate or the weather.  We can help the eco system by stopping the deforestation of the Amazon, where they are clearing two football fields a day for grazing cattle.  This is having a major impact on the natural fauna and wild life in the area and may be affecting some weather patterns, so planting more trees and reducing the destruction of our forests is showing good stewardship of our home, but it will not save the planet from its final destruction and you will see why as we go on.

Can Scientists save the planet?

Many scientists believe they can save the planet if we make major changes to our life styles and the way we now consume energy.   On March 15th, 2012, around a dozen scientists placed an article in a science journal, aptly named ‘Science’.  It reads as follows:

“Human societies must now change course and steer away from critical tipping points in the earth’s system that might lead to rapid and irreversible change.  This requires a fundamental reorientation and restructuring of national and international institutions toward more effective earth system governance and planetary stewardship…

What is this telling us?  World governments must all be involved and to do this there cannot be any individual government or institutions which have different views.  The article goes on to say:

……to be effective, a new set of institutions would have to be imbued with heavy-handed, trans-national enforcement powers.”

Isn’t that quite scary?  All governments around the world are to come together and be ‘forced’ to comply with all the issues around climate change.  As they say, this would mean a new earth system of government – a one world government with the power to implement changes in all countries, which they would control.

Ban Ki Moon

The former Secretary General of the United Nations called upon all governments in September 2015, to place the global ‘common good’ above national interests and to adopt an ambitious universal climate change agreement?

Agenda 2030

At the UN climate summit in December 2015, they voted for what was called ‘The 2030 Agenda’.  This is the world agenda for the year 2030, according to the UN.  It is an ambitious and frightening scenario, which will ultimately reduce the freedom of individual thoughts and actions.  It is in effect a dictatorial agenda to control every aspect of the lives of everyone living on planet earth.  Freedom of speech will be curtailed for the ‘common good’.  It will be up to those in control who deem what is for the common good and any deviation away from this will be considered anti-social and possibly a criminal offence.  This is not a conspiracy theory as it is well document in the agenda. But who will be in charge to implement the agenda?

Global Government

The global government will consist of:

  1. The UN
  2. The Council of Foreign Relations
  3. The Trilateral Commission
  4. The Bilderberg Group
  5. The Gorbachev Foundation
  6. The Club of Rome

The World Constitution and Parliament has put together a draft document for the constitution for world government, officially known as the ‘Constitution for the Federation of Earth.’

Dr Brock Chisholm

Who was a former director of the World Health Organisation  said:

“To achieve a world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism and religious dogmas.”

The Christian World report: March 1991, Vol 3, No 3, P.8 and The Christian World Report: July 1989, Vol 1, No 5, P. 1

New World Agenda

The following slide shows the goals of the New World Agenda:

  1. To merge God and nature (Ecology)
  2. Eradicate male and female distinction (Androgyny)
  3. World peace and nuclear disarmament
  4. One World Government
  5. One World Religion

Ban Ki Moon, who we spoke of earlier made a statement about the New World Agenda.  He said:

“The new agenda is a promise by leaders to all people everywhere.  It is a universal, integrative and transformative vision for a better world….

What then has to happen for this agenda to be implemented?

He goes on to say:

….institutions, will have to be come fit for a brand new purpose.  We must engage all actors as we did in shaping this agenda.  We must include parliaments and local governments and work with cities and rural areas.  We must rally businesses and entrepreneurs.  We must involve civil society in defining and implementing policies and give the space to hold us to account.  We must look to scientists and academia.  We will need to embrace a data revolution.  Most important, we must seek to work now.”

President Obama

When Pope Francis published his encyclical ‘Laudato si’ (Care for our Common Home) on 24 May 2015, the US President Obama stated:

“I welcome his holiness, Pope Francis’ encyclical and deeply admire the Pope’s decision to make the case clearly and powerfully and with the full moral authority of his position for action on global climate change…..

But notice what President Obama goes on to say:

….we must also protect the world’s poor who have done the least to contribute to this looming crisis and stand to lose the most if we fail to avert it”

It makes you wonder why it is the question of climate change that is being used to protect the poor and not the current fiscal policies of governments?

Because the Pope was to visit the Whitehouse a short time in the future, President Obama went on to say:

….I look forward to discussing these issues with the Pope when he visits the Whitehouse in September.  (that was September 2015), and as we prepare for global climate change negotiations in Paris in December, it is my hope that all world leaders and all God’s children will reflect on Pope Francis’s call to come together to care for our common home.”

Leonardo DiCaprio

Made a statement at one of the climate change meetings as follows:

“A massive change; an upheaval is needed now, one that leads to a new collective consciousness, a new collective evolution of the human race inspired and enabled by a sense of urgency from all of you….

‘From all of you’, he was referring to the leaders of the 193 governments at the assembly.

He went on to say:

….you are the last best hope of earth and we ask you to protect it or we and all living things we cherish are history.

Wow, what an amazing statement!  I thought the second coming of Jesus was our last best hope to save planet earth and the human race?

Climate Change - For the Common Good

On April 15th, 2015, which was two months before the Pope published his encyclical ‘Laudato si’, the academies of both scientists and social scientists released a long statement entitled: ‘Climate Change and the Common Good.’ This was a statement of the problem of climate change and a demand for transformative solutions. The words ‘Common Good’ you will remember were first verbalised by Ban Ki Moon.

You will notice this statement does not say” ‘the wish for transformative solutions’, but ‘the demand for transformative solutions.  This report can be read on the internet.  Its main purpose is to scare everyone into action.  It states:

“Climate change is a global problem whose solution will depend on our stepping beyond national affiliations and coming together for the common good…..

It goes on to say:

….as early as the year 2100, which is not far into the future, there will be non-negligible probability of irreversible and catastrophic climate impacts that may last over a thousand years, raising the existential question of whether civilisation, as we know it, can be extended beyond this century.”

What is the Pope telling us?  Doomsday is approaching if we do nothing about climate change before the turn of this century.  But what can we read into his words. There is no mention of God. No mention of the immanent| second coming of Jesus. He appears to believe the human race can save itself and the planet without any God and states human destruction of the earth may last thousands of years due to climate change. Will his predictions come true?  It depends on how you look at it!  Will we, as humans kill the planet, or is there a greater master plan by the God who owns the planet?  I know what I believe.  On the positive side, it is comforting to know that the young climate change activist Greta Thunberg’s recent prediction of 12 years to doomsday has been extended by the Pope to the end of the century!   It is also interesting to note that the document also says that this planet has not seen such an increase in temperature in tens of millions of years.  Remember it is the Pope who is leading on climate change, so what does this tell us?  It tells us that the papal authorities have now embraced the theory of evolution.  I will come onto this a little later.  I mentioned earlier the Pope’s encyclical Laudato si, which translated means: ‘Praise be to you’.  It also has a sub title called: ‘Care for our Common home’. The encyclical gives a list of recommendations on how we, as humans can help to reduce climate change:  These are:

    1.   Reduction in Carbon gases

    2.   Car Pooling

    3.   Planting more trees

    4.   Turning off unnecessary lights

    5.   Restriction of the use of air conditioning

    6.   Recycling and boycotting certain products

All of these recommendations have some merit, after all we are stewards of the planet and we should take care of it, however, his last recommendation will show you where he is going and why he is using climate change as a smokescreen for a greater prize.  His seventh recommendation says:

    7.   As well as giving the planet a Sunday Rest

Let me tell you that it is not the solutions put forward by the Pope that are the problem, but as I said above, it is with his motivation – his goal is to make Sunday a day of Rest. He wants the world to close down on a Sunday on the pretext that it is for our good, when in reality he wants to promote Sunday as a day for religious worship around the world.

In paragraphs 53 of this encyclical the Pope recommends the establishment of a legal framework, which can set clear boundaries and ensure the protection of ecosystems, which has become indispensable.  It says:

“Every effort to protect and improve our world entails profound changes in lifestyles, models of production and consumption and the established structures of power, which today govern societies.”

This is a guarded attack on the capitalist system, which he hates.

In paragraph 69, he amplifies what he means by the established structures of power, which governs society today: He says:

“International climate negotiations cannot make significant progress due to positions taken by countries which place their national interests above the global common good.”

One Government EU

We know that the goal of the EU is to build one country out of current national countries, and the Pope is fully invested in this plan.  The object therefore is to remove any distinctions between nations and bring them all under one umbrella for the common good of humanity.  We are living through the birth of this new nation and even though the UK has removed itself from the plan, the EU is still on course to bring about a one government Europe.

Popes speech to the UN

During the Popes visit to America in 2015 which I mentioned earlier he was invited to give the inaugural speech for the 70th anniversary of the UN in front of 193 nations. Something unprecedented in the history of the USA.  Remember, the Pilgrim fathers fled Europe because of papal dogma.   He spoke on the subjects of integrity of family, climate change and poverty.  Once again there is nothing wrong with the topics of discussion but he did not reveal his underlying agenda.

UN Global Pact to reduce carbon gases

During the period November 30th to December 12th, 2015, the nations of the UN met to sign a global pact for the reduction of carbon gases and other things related to climate change.  At first only 174 nations signed the agreement which was later signed by many others.  It became binding on April 22nd, 2016.   Let me read the Pope’s comments on this agreement:

“Its implication will require unanimous commitment and generous dedication by everyone.  Pay special attention to the most vulnerable populations and carefully follow the road ahead with an ever-growing sense of solidarity.”

Creation v Evolution

So now I have set the background to my sermon,  it will help you to see where the world is going and how prophecy is being fulfilled during our lifetime. There are  two competing world views that are battling for our minds.  These two opposing world views are ‘Creation and Evolution’.  You will see as we go along what the connection is to climate change!

As you know, God created a perfect world in 6 literal – 24 hour days.  We can read this in Genesis 1:3 -2:1

We can also read in Psalm 33, that God spoke and it was done.  We are also told in the 4th Commandment that God created the earth in 6 days and then He rested on the Sabbath day, setting it apart for humanity to rest and remember who their creator is. Genesis 2:2&3.  In Genesis 2:1, God said that all the work of creation was finished.  This was the 6th day.  Why then did it go on to say in Genesis 2:2 ‘on the seventh day God ended His work. Because it was on the seventh day that He signed His work.  The Sabbath is His signature, His sign that the earth and all creation belong to Him.  By keeping the Sabbath of creation, we acknowledge Him as our creator.  It is not a Jewish Sabbath because the Jews did not exist until Abraham.

So what has this to do with climate change?

One of the arguments for the change of climate today is that people are abusing the environment?  Is this through fossil fuel usage, or is there another reason why millions treat this planet as though it belonged to them?

Rejection of a Creator

Humanity in general seems to have forgotten that God is the creator and owner of earth.   They have not only forgotten Him as Creator, in doing so they have forgotten the sign of his Creator-ship -  the 4th Commandment:  “Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy.”  Exodus 20:9-10. This rest applies to everyone, including the animals, who are to rest on the Sabbath.  Therefore, by ceasing our weekly activities we also give the environment a rest.  Disobeying this has consequences for humanity.

What was the earth’s first catastrophic climate change event?

By the time of Noah, humanity had greatly increased and so had sinfulness.  Every imagination of the heart’s desire was fulfilled.  There were no limits to mankind’s immorality.  As a consequence, God decided enough was enough but before He made His final decision to destroy all humanity, He saw goodness in one man – Noah. Therefore He told him what He was going to do and gave him instructions to build a large boat. It took around a hundred years to build the Ark so Noah used the time to try and reach as many of the anti-diluvian world as possible to get them to turn from their sinful lives.  The Bible tells us he was unsuccessful.

Earth’s Climate during the time of Noah

At this time, the earth’s temperature was the same all around the globe. The planet’s vegetation was abundant and not only were humans much taller than we are today, animals, plants and the fish of the seas were too.  Dinosaurs roamed the thick vegetation as giant hedge trimmers.   The earth’s oxygen had not been polluted with the toxins and bacteria we have today and prior to the flood it had never rained upon the earth.

In Genesis 1:2, during the second day of earth’s creation, we are told the earth was full of water and God divided the waters and placed some in the stratosphere (firmament) above and placed the rest under the earth.  This gave the earth a greenhouse effect with a perfect temperature for life to thrive. The purpose of putting the water under the earth according to Genesis 2:5,6, was to make the earth an automatic sprinkler system.  Every morning the ground would be watered from a mist that came up from the earth, so the people of the earth had never seen rain fall from the sky.  When the Ark was finished and Noah and his family were locked in, nothing happened for about a week and those around Noah’s Ark scoffed at him as they had done for a hundred years.  However, when spots of water started to fall from the sky, they began to murmur amongst themselves and when it got heavier and started to flood the plains, they moved up to higher ground thinking they would be safe but then God split the earth (formation of tectonic plates), and the waters under the earth erupted with such force all land disappeared below the deluge.  The earth returned to day two of creation when it was covered with water and only Noah and his family survived in the Ark.

What was the main cause of this drastic climate change?

Were the people polluting the land with too much carbon?  Did they have too many cars or air conditioning units?  Were they not car-pooling?  Of course not.  Genesis 6:5-7 tells us that the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  Let’s read this in Genesis 6:11-12:

“The earth also was corrupt before God and the earth was filled with violence, so God looked upon the earth and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.”

There are other places in the Bible where God used the climate to bring the minds of men back to Him.  One of these was during the days of Elijah.  God brought about a three and a half year drought.  Israel had continually sinned and would not return to God, even though they had been warned that if they disobeyed His voice He would close up the heavens so that it would not rain. Deuteronomy, Chapter 28.  Had they listened to His voice He would have healed the nation.

Climate Change caused through human disobedience

It therefore appears that climate change, throughout history has NOT been caused by direct human interference with the atmosphere, but because of sinful humanity’s continual rejection of God.

Matthew 24:37-39

In my scripture reading this morning Jesus told the disciples that similar events from Noah’s day would once again happen in the last days before His second coming.    Humanity would reject the doctrines of God and replace them with their own.  The Bible would no longer be the guide of the Christian church. They would turn away from its precepts and follow after their own imagination but still calling upon God for favour.  As long as the Christian churches deny the Bible as God’s Holy Book, they will continue in their sinfulness until God once again uses the climate to awaken them from their sleep.  So the climate in these last days will get worse as we get closer to the end.  Unfortunately, because of the belief in the theory of evolution, millions are blind to the coming catastrophe because they have been taught that humanity is progressing upwards towards a better future.  Could this be why many are indifferent to the pleading of God’s people to look up and see the impending danger?

In Isaiah 24 we are told the earth is growing old and will soon be desolate. It is becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah for its wickedness.  Jesus Himself told us that at the end of days there would be famines, pestilences, earthquakes and turmoil everywhere.   Anyone who has read Romans 1:18-32 will have read the catalogue of sin that was predicted, would engulf the world in the last days.  Are we seeing the fulfilment of these things now?   According to Luke 21:16, the family unit will fall apart with parents betraying their children and children betraying their parents.  The poor and oppressed will cry out against their leaders, James 5:1-3.  There will be every increasing calamity’s, and finally there will be the seven last plagues (Revelation 15), which will make the earth uninhabitable.

Should we as Christians be afraid?

Of course not, we have put our trust in Jesus and His spectacular return to reclaim this planet, and not in our political leaders, who are foolishly trying to save the planet from climate change for future generations.   If our children are not taught the ways of God, it will be worse for them because they will be destroyed by the atmospheric catastrophes that will accompany the return of Jesus for His saints.

Those of us who are alive at the coming of Jesus, will watch the graves of the saints open and their resurrected bodies reformed.  We will be caught up in the air where we will join them as all our bodies miraculously change on the journey upward towards Jesus, who waits in the air for us to join Him.  When we are gathered to Him, He will turn with His angels to lead us to heaven where we will live with God for one thousand earth years. We will not turn our heads to see the destruction that is happening below us on the earth, which will become void of all living creatures Jeremiah 4:23, except for Satan and his angels.

After the one thousand years, where we have been judging both the dead and fallen angels, we will return with Jesus in the new Jerusalem to the earth to raise the rest of the dead, who will receive the punishment for their unrepentant sinful lives.   On conclusion of the judgment, when Satan and his angels and all sinners have been burned to ashes, Jesus will re-create this world in six literal days.  On the seventh day, just as He did at the first creation, He will rest along with those of us who are with Him.  Isaiah 66:22 says:

For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before me, says the Lord, so shall your descendants and your name remain….

How do we know God will re-create the world in six literal days again?  Because we are told in Isaiah 66:23:

“And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says the Lord”

You cannot have a Sabbath day unless there are six days preceding it?

Just think about it, we are going to be there for the second creation.  We will stand and watch in awesome wonder as God remoulds the new earth and speaks to the ground to bring forth trees and all vegetation.  We will see the animals come into being again, many that have long since been extinct and many we have never seen before.  The only thing that we will not see is the creation of humans.  We are already there.

Secular World View

The view of the secular world is totally different to that of creation.  Even the Papacy has embraced evolution.  The following is a statement by John Paul II at the Pacifical Academy of Scientists in 1996:

“Today almost half a century after the publication of the encyclical Humani Genesis (Pope Pius 12, 1956), new knowledge has led to the recognition of the Theory of Evolution as more than a hypothesis. It is indeed remarkable that this theory has been progressively accepted by researchers following a series of discoveries in various fields of knowledge. The convergence (that is all the scientists who came together with their science), neither sought nor fabricated of the results of work that was conducted independently, is in itself, a significant argument in favour of the theory.”

So what the Pope is saying is that because evolutionary scientists have made independent studies without collaboration with other evolutionary scientists around the world (and that in itself is debatable), and came to the same conclusion, there must be some truth in the theory of evolution?  What they fail to point out is that all of these scientists have a preconceived belief that God does not exist, therefore they start their research from a bias viewpoint.  Also much of their research hinges on assumptions and theorisations made in books by people such as Charles Lyle, Charles Darwin and other proponents of evolution.

Pope Francis 1

The current Pope Francis 1st was even more bold on this subject.  he said:

“The big bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator, but rather requires it.  Evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve…

He goes on to say:

…when we read about creation in Genesis we run the risk of imagining God was a magician with a magic wand able to do everything, but that is not so.  He created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave each one so that they would reach their fulfilment.”

Sounds a bit eastern mystic religion to me and what Pope Francis does not state, is how cruel the process of evolution is.

Frank Lewis Marsh

Was an American Seventh Day Adventist biologist, educator and young earthy creationist and creator of the Creation Research Society. He said:

“Evolution presents a bloody, ruthless struggle for existence from the very beginning, where there is much waste of living substance and many false starts and blind alleys.”

Evolution tells us that death came a long time before sin entered the world.   Evolutionists do not believe in a literal Adam and Eve, so now the Papal authorities have also rejected the creation story in Genesis and called it an allegory or fable.  What they fail to grasp is that if there was no Adam and Eve, then there could be no literal ‘falling into sin’ and therefore no need for a redeemer.

A Benevolent God

According to the Bible, God is a benevolent God who cares for His creation.  He cares for the sparrow.  He dresses the flowers of the field with beauty and numbers the hairs on our head?  He has an abounding love for His creation.  The question has to be asked, would a benevolent God set things in motion, sit back and watch His greatest creation suffer death and destruction in order to advance the species He created?  The survival of the fittest is an invention by Satan through the men and women he has convinced there is no God.   The theory of evolution is therefore an attack on the omnipotent God and His great power and His love.  It belittles Him and brings Him down to the level of His creation.  It also makes Him the creator of death.

Adam and Eve

As Christians we believe that Adam and Eve were literal people whom God made and placed in the Garden of Eden, just as the book of Genesis tells us.  Consequently, they were literally tempted by Satan through the medium of a serpent and literally fell into sin by disobeying God’s clear instructions not to eat of the fruit of the tree of good and evil.  After they had disobeyed God, they began to change both physically and spiritually.  A virus we call sin entered their being and took root in their character, which not only infected their children, it carried through all generations and also affected every living creature, the vegetation and the whole of earth’s atmosphere.  Death to all things on earth came as a consequence of the virus of sin and all created things would eventually return to the dust from which they were made.   But God did not leave His creation to suffer forever.  We know He had already made a way for humanity to gain its lost Eden.   God in the form of His Son would die for us.  A truly selfless act, which would eventually show the people of the universe that God is not the person He is made out to be by Satan and his followers.  However, many on earth still do not believe the story of redemption and surprisingly this is the case of the leader of the largest ‘Christian’ church on earth.

The following is a comment by a Roman Catholic scientist:

“The notion of the traditional view of redemption, as reconciliation and ransom from the consequences of Adam’s fall, is nonsense for anyone who knows about the evolutionary background of human existence in the modern world……

and then he goes on to say:

“the story of Genesis is not literal and therefore salvation cannot mean returning to an original state, but must be conceived as perfecting through the process of evolution.”

If this is true, there are several questions to ask.  How long will it take the human race to reach perfection?  How long do we have to live on this planet for wars to cease?  For little lambs to lie down with lions? For all of humanity to live in harmony?  How long will creation cry out in pain for its deliverance from death and destruction of life?

I cannot see how believing in evolution can offer us hope to a quick end to pain and suffering on this earth?  If you believe in evolution, then there is only human death to look forward to so if you are lucky, you might have 80 years of life, then nothing.  As a creationist, death is not the end, it is only a short sleep until the return of Jesus and then an immortal existence in a new perfected world forever.

But the Pope is not looking for Jesus return, he has another worldly agenda which does not involve interference by God.

Let me read you an article by the Reformed Church Presbyterian preacher, J.W. Robbins.  The book is called ‘Ecclesiastical Megalomania’ 1999, Page 187:

“What the Roman Catholic Church State accomplished on a small scale during the middle ages is what it desires to achieve on a global scale in the coming millennium.”

We know what the Papacy did during its dominance of Europe during the dark ages (1260 years)? It used the secular powers in Europe to do what the Pope wanted.  The idea was to unite church and state with the church controlling the secular powers and using their sword to further its own religious agenda.  Do we see this happening again with church and state fully joined on the subject of climate change?  By getting all the political leaders in its pocket the church can use them to their advantage.  By constantly using such expressions as ‘for the common good’, they see individualism as an enemy that has to be beaten at all costs.  They also use words such as ‘solidarity’ to inform us that we are in this together and we must unite into one ecumenical body and cooperate with each other without dissension for the common good.  They also use the word ‘subsidiary’ telling us we must put others people’s interests before our own and place ourselves into second place.  Once again for the common good of humanity.  But one of their major goals is the removal of individual property rights.  Property, according to the Pope, is for all humanity and not for one person.  It must therefore be distributed to all those who are less fortunate and have a need.   Let’s go to the source of this last comment.

The following article is from the Compendium of Catholic Social Doctrine.  This is a document of over a 1000 pages. This is what it says in Section 173:

“If it is true that everyone is born with the right to use the goods of the earth, it is likewise true that, in order to ensure that this right is exercised in an equitable and orderly fashion, regulated interventions are necessary: interventions that are the result of national and international agreements and a juridical order that adjudicates and specifies the exercise of this right.”

So to make us all equal with our possessions, there must be laws to make sure we don’t have more than the next person!  Therefore, if these fascist laws are implemented, every individual on the planet will not be allowed to improve his or her life style or rise above another in possessions.  Some may consider taking the current wealth of the rich and giving it to the poor is a noble and just thing to do, but is it fair to take the proceeds of the efforts of one person who has worked hard all their life just to give most of it to someone who has made no effort to improve their own lives so he or she can be equal in possessions or money?  In such a society, those who work hard would be inclined to give up and just be on the receiving end of someone else’s efforts.  Ultimately, the hard workers would cease to work for others and everyone would become poorer in a society that produces nothing.

Benedict the XVI

The words of Benedict the XVI are very telling about the objectives of the Roman Catholic Church to influence the secular powers to support the churches world agenda. In his encyclical ‘Caritas in Veritate’ (Charity and Truth) June 29, 2009 he said:

“To manage the global economy, to revive economies hit by the crisis, to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis (he was referring to the 2008 economic crisis) and the greater imbalances that would result to bring about integral and timely disarmourment, food security and peace, to guarantee the protection of the environment and to regulate migration.  For all this, there is an urgent need of a true world political authority, as my predecessor blessed John XXII indicated some years ago….

He continues:

…..such an authority would have to be regulated by law to observe consistently the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity to seek to establish the common good, and to make a commitment to securing authentic integral human development inspired by the value of charity and truth.”

But now comes the scary part of his encyclical:

….furthermore such an authority would need to be universally recognised and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice and respect for rights. Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties, and also with the coordinated measures adopted in various international forums.”

Here we again see the church looking to secular authority to use the law to ensure their agenda is enforced in the world, and they believe they have the supreme authority to enforce these measures. This is what Pope Pius XI wrote in his encyclical entitled:  Quadragesimo anno 15 May 1931:

“There resides in us, (that is the papacy), the right and duty to pronounce with supreme authority upon social and economic matters.”

Not only is the church calling upon secular powers to implement the churches agenda, they believe that it is only the Roman Catholic Church who has the right and the duty to implement and dictate their social and economic change in the world.

Not long ago, previous Popes had three main talking points.  These were:

Abortion

Marriage

Euthanasia

The current Pope Francis when asked about these topics can only say: ‘Who am I to judge?’.

But what is the real reason these topics are no longer on the Pope’s media agenda?  In order to gain popularity from secular governments, the Pope must address the issues that political leaders are interested in.

Let’s have a quick look at what the Pope’s agenda is:

First he discusses poverty saying that the poor are overworked by their capitalist masters and therefore every worker should be given a day of rest.  What day do you think this would be?  Sunday.

Secondly is the subject of Climate Change.  Just like the worker, the Pope says the environment is being overworked and is in need of a day of rest.  You guessed it, that day will be Sunday.

And thirdly his concerns are for the family. These are so stressed out they need a day of rest to reconnect to each other.  Once again he says that this day should be Sunday.

God’s Sabbath

As Christians we know that according to the bible, the day to give the poor and needy a rest is the Sabbath of creation, which was written down by Moses as the fourth commandment and that day we know is Saturday and not Sunday.

The environment is God’s domain and therefore God teaches us to care for our planet and to give it a rest on Sabbath, not Sunday.

On the subject of the family, Adam and Eve reconnected to God and each other on the Sabbath of creation and not on Sunday.

We have already read about the Pope’s agenda so let us now see what he said on August 12, 2015, where he connected the Eucharist with Sunday rest.

“The obsession with economic profit and technical efficiency puts the human rhythms of life at risk.  Moments of rest especially on Sunday are sacred because in them we find God. The Sunday Eucharist brings to our celebrations every grace of Jesus Christ, His presence, His love and His sacrifice is forming us into a community and his way of being with us.”

So the Pope says we must all stop working on a Sunday if we are to honour God.  He amplifies this in his encyclical Laudato Si, where he states:

“On Sunday our participation in the Eucharist has special importance.  Sunday, like the Jewish Sabbath, is meant to be a day that heals our relationships with God, with ourselves, with others and with the world…..

He then goes on to say:

“Rest opens our eyes to the larger picture and gives us renewed sensitivity to the rights of others, and so the day of rest, centred on the Eucharist, sheds its light on the whole week and motivates us to greater concern for nature and for the poor.

Because the Papal authorities believe they speak for God, they assumed they had the right to change the Sabbath to Sunday and as a consequence believe that God blesses them and will be with all those who keep the Eucharist.  There is no Bible reference to a change of Sabbath to Sunday, but that does not matter to the Papacy.  Sunday worship is therefore the sign of the Roman Catholic Churches authority on earth, but God’s sign is His Sabbath

Let me read you a short statement directly from Roman Catholic sources:

This was written by a Roman Catholic author Cannon Henry Taylor Cafferata from Liverpool, who was also an Army Chaplain for the Royal Engineers at Chatham for eight years in the late 1800’s:

He wrote:

“God said: “Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day.  The Sabbath was Saturday not Sunday.  Why then do we keep Sunday holy instead of Saturday?  The church altered the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of Sunday.  Protestants who say that they go by the Bible and the Bible only and that they do not believe in anything that is not in the Bible must be rather puzzled by the keeping of Sunday when God distinctly said keep holy the Sabbath day.  The word Sunday does not come anywhere in the Bible. So without knowing it, they are obeying the authority of the Catholic church”

These last two statement come from Ellen G White. It is amazing how accurate she was about the future climate over 100 years ago.

"The time is at hand when there will be sorrow in the world that no human balm cam healThe Spirit of God is being withdrawn. Disasters by sea and by land follow one another in quick succession. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property! Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of disorganised, unregulated forces of nature, wholly beyond the control of man; but in them all, God’s purpose may be read. They are among the agencies by which HE seeks to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger. EGW, Prophets and Kings Page 277.

“The restraining Spirit of God is even now being withdrawn from the world.  Hurricanes, storms, tempests, fire and flood, disasters at sea and land follow each other in quick succession.  Science seeks to explain all these. But then she writes:  the signs, thickening all around us, telling us of the near approach of the Son of God are attributed to any other than the true cause.  Men cannot discern the sentinel angels restraining the four winds that they shall not blow until the servants of God are sealed.  But when God shall bid his angels loose the winds, there will be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture.  Testimonies for churches 6:408 Chapters 5.1

Yes, the world’s climate is changing and it is linked to the day of rest and it is not because of fossil fuel usage or the many reasons put forward by pro-climate change scientists.    It is changing because God has been forgotten.  His sign of ownership of this world has been forgotten.   The theory of evolution is now the God of today and millions of humans have been taught there is no God.  What was once considered immoral, just as it was in the days of Noah, is now practiced as acceptable and normal.  The cup of sin is at the brim and will soon spill over causing God to act.   The birth pains have begun, the winds of strife, which are being slowly loosed by the four angels, are on the increase and destruction will soon follow. Let us therefore look up and continue to pray for the speedy return of Jesus.

Amen
