God Knows Your Needs

by Mark Nickles
2/04/2020 / Christian Living

There aren’t many of us who have never wondered if a particular need would be met. Will I be able to get another job? Will I find an affordable (and decent) place to live? Will I have the funds to pay this bill? Most of us will experience a financial struggle at one time or another.

One of the wonderful facts about a life surrendered to Jesus Christ is that we enjoy God’s provision of our needs. The Bible describes God as a father to those who trust and obey him. In Matthew 7, Jesus made a comparison between imperfect human fathers (which all of us fathers are) and our heavenly Father. Verse 11 assures us, “If you then, who are evil (sinful), know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” The Bible establishes God’s concern for his people as a father.

In the book of Philippians, the Apostle Paul spoke in gratitude to those who had helped support him in the ministry of the gospel. In chapter 4, verse 19, he stated the result of their generous giving: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” God knows our needs, cares about them, and wants to supply them. Finally, the Bible shows us a SURE way for our needs to be provided.

In Matthew 6, Jesus talked of how people worried about necessities; what they would eat, drink and wear. In verse 33, he gave the answer to attaining these things: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” God is a good father, and he takes care of the needs of his children, when our primary desire is to know him better.

At the times when my wife and I have wondered, “Will we make ends meet, this month?”, God has ALWAYS come through. While we haven’t always had everything we want, we have NEVER lacked the things we need. God is faithful. Will you surrender your life to him, through Jesus Christ, and make a way for all of your needs to be met?
