My Joy

My husband repeats himself.

He has little choice. I’m hard of hearing so he often has to repeat what he wants me to know.

I might hear parts of his comments; wanting to get the whole story; he has to tell me again.

Apostle Paul repeated himself.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things (Philippians 4:4-8 NASB).”

I’m prone to dwell on negativity.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice (Philippians 4:4 NASB).”

Breaking it down…

Rejoice (be glad)

In the Lord (abiding in Christ)

Always (in all circumstances)

I cannot rejoice in perilous times; yet, he said always.

I can always rejoice in the Lord. The victory comes through abiding.

“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full (John 15:9-11 NASB).”
