About Your True Father

by Tonja Taylor
2/24/2020 / Salvation

Do you know your father?

I don’t mean your earthly father, but your Daddy in Heaven!

He knows your name.

He knows everything about you—He created you in your mother’s womb, as Psalm 139:13-14 says:  You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!  (The Passion Translation)

Perhaps your earthly father was not interested in you. But your Heavenly Father, God, is interested in you! So very interested. He wants to be involved with you. He fought for you—He won custody of you, in the ultimate battle or all! He wants custody of you—but you must decide to invite Him into your life, for He is a Gentleman and will never force His way into your life, nor force you to do anything.

He loves you!

He waits to shower His love on you, even today! He has so much to give you. He’s been dreaming of the day you will contact Him. He can’t wait to talk to you, to share everything with you! He loves you, even though you’ve not yet known Him. And He wants to develop a deep relationship with you. He wants to spend time with you!

You may not be able to understand such love. Perhaps you’ve had an earthly father that was okay, but your relationship with him hasn’t been that great. Or perhaps your father was abusive and you hated his guts. Maybe you knew and even loved your earthly dad, but you never felt good enough for his love; like you could never please him enough to make him really love you.

Yes, it’s true; no earthly dad is perfect. No earthly dad has the capacity to love you like your heavenly Father. When you receive Christ Jesus as your Savior and LORD (Romans 3:23, Romans 10:13, and John 3:15-17), then His Father, Who is God, becomes your Father—your Abba Father, your Daddy God, Who loves you and lavishes His love on you. Father God will more than make up for any lack of love and affection your earthly dad was missing!

The Passion Translation, in Romans 8:15, talks about that: “We do not have the spirit of religious duty, leading us back into the fear of never being good enough. We have received the Spirit of full acceptance, enfolding us into the family of God.”

The Amplified Classic Version of the Bible words that wonderful Scripture this way: For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!"

Also, Galatians 4:4-6 states, 4 But when the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to [the regulations of] the Law, 5 To purchase the freedom of (to ransom, to redeem, to atone for) those who were subject to the Law, that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognized as God’s sons]. 6 And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father!

Perhaps you never knew your earthly dad. But you can know your Father in Heaven. Today.

All you have to do is let His Son, Jesus, introduce you.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that Whoever believes in Him should not die, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:17 says, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

If you want to know your real Father—the LORD of Heaven, Who is Love—then say this:

Father God,

I want to know You. I thank You for loving me so much—even when I didn’t know You existed! I thank You for giving me life, and leading me to this writing, so I could know how to contact You. I’m so glad that You are so excited about us having a strong relationship. I choose to believe and receive and agree with what Your Son Jesus died for me on the cross, by spilling His pure blood and dying for my sins, then rising again to bring new life.

Jesus, please come into my heart so I can know the Father and You. Help me start reading Your Word daily and find a Bible-believing church, in Jesus name. Thank You so much! Amen!
