A Different Kind of Worship

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased,” says Hebrews 13:16 (NIV)

Too many of us have strained trying to figure out exactly what “worship” means. When I read this verse the other day, I rejoiced!

The LORD is showing us clearly that, while He delights in our worship of Him in music and other ways, He also considers doing good deeds and sharing a form of worship!

Our God is such a good God! He tells us clearly what He expects from us in His Word, and He gives us the marvelous Holy Spirit--the Spirit of Jesus--to help us and guide us every day and night, 24 hours long.

Sometimes, we have to be quiet and actually ask Him and listen for His reply, for He is a Gentleman! We can also perceive His direction as we praise and worship, and during prayer.

Then we ask Him to help us act on what He says. His commands are not harsh, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light!

So, we can worship the LORD today by doing a good deed. It won’t get you into Heaven--for only your faith in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross for your sins and His resurrection after three days from the dead can do that (John 3:15-17; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:13)--but it will bring praise and glory to God in Heaven Who is good all the time, and Who is so worthy of
our praise!

You’ll feel great! The LORD says that it is “more blessed to give than receive” (Acts 20:35)--because we were created in the image of God, and He is the ultimate Giver!

Go have fun giving and worshipping God today!
