"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in faith, prove your own selves.
know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye
be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Nigeria, a west African country, NCDC (National Centre for disease control), is a government agency saddled with responsibility of controlling and eradicating of outbreak of any disease. This body has been up and doing to carry out this responsibility. They do not relent on their efforts when the dreaded coronavirus finds its way into the country.
One of the ways to curb the spread of COVID 19, also know as Coronavirus, is that a newly arrived person from another country should quarantine himself for fourteen days to examine himself whether or not he has abhorred the virus. NCDC instruct anyone who senses having the symptoms to call a special nut to receive help from the agency.
The symptoms to watch for are fe, coughing and difficulty breathing. It is only a careful self - examination that can bring about this. Otherwise, a person will be a stranger to himself, not knowing his true health status. Self examination.
Do you know that you do not to travel from a country to another to engage yourself in self - examination? Do you that self examination is not only restricted to COVID 19? It is not narrowed to diseases, although this is important. Every serious believer in Christ knows the importance of self - examination. It is a recommended exercise for spiritual growth and stability.
Self - examination surely leads to self-knowledge. A thorough and sincere self examination will certainly reveal the exact position of your state whether it is alright or not. This self-knowledge will inspire you to take the right and ideal step towards yourself. You will by so prove truly. You will be able to speak above yourself and status boldly without mincing words.
As a Believer in Christ, let us discuss three areas to examine yourself
1. Examine your thoughts regularly: What are those thoughts you entertain in your hearts? The general state of any man's heart is spelt out in Genesis 6:5
"the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of thoughts of was only evil continually."
As a discipline of Jesus Christ, have you not slumped into this pitiable state of man. Do you go about with such a deplorable state of heart and still calm to be a small Christ? Please, do not deceive yourself, examine yourself. X-ray your heart and its contents. If it is not christ like, review your ways. You must possess a heart and mind like Jesus Christ, Philippians 2:5 states,
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." King James Version.
Examine your heart and mind, are they in conformity with Christ?
2. Examine your words: Take time to examine every word that proceeds out of thy mouth. Are your words seasoned with salt? Is your mouth filled with words of grace continually? Is the word of your mouth in line with the Scriptures? Is your mouth not occupied by gutter langua? Examine your words. Do you want to be perfect? James 3:2 has this to tell you,
"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the
same is a perfect man, and able also the whole body."
Examine your words!
3. Examine your deeds : What do you do daily? How do you act and react to issues? Is it Christ like? Are you grossly under the influence of the flesh? What do you do? Are your deeds in conformity with the instructions of the Holy Spirit in you? Do you obey Him in every way? Do not be dismayed, "Whatsoever a man sows will he reap." What do you sow why your deeds?
Examine your works because it determine your rewards, not only from man but also from the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only in this world but also in the life to come. Hear Him speak in Revelation 22:11-12.
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still, and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him righteous still : and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
And, behold, I come quickly, my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be, "
What will your reward be like? What is your work or deed? Please, examine your deeds nows and know your works, make all necessary changes.
Therefore, examine yourself in thoughts, words and deed to know who you are and for purpose of correcting yourself.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
