OBEDIENCE Part 1

What is the Definition of obedience?

1a : an act or instance of obeying

b : the quality or state of being obedient; Children should learn obedience and respect for authority.

So, with the definition shown for “obedience”, lets get into my post on obedience as it relates to God and His commandments.

For the record, the majority of us obey the laws of man, i.e., murder, stealing, etc. without ever thinking about the law because it is morally imbedded in our character to abstain. We don’t obey or keep the law because the state made the law, but because we respect the fact that by breaking the law, we are exhibiting a blatant disregard, and disobedience to the society in which we live, this holds true for the laws of God, “The Ten Commandments”, as well as God’s health laws, and when we break them or disregard them we are displaying a lack of obedience and a contempt for God’s laws and His character.

Jesus said in John 14:15 IF YE LOVE ME, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS. Notice the word “commandments” is plural, indicating more than one, so Jesus is instructing us to adhere to all of His commandments not just the ones we are comfortable with, and references such as Revelation 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus”,are throughout the scriptures to reinforce the command to keep them.

Throughout the pages of the Bible, the followers of Jesus are prompted to keep the laws of God, but man being man, has through the centuries twisted, tweaked, stretched and changed the word of God to conform to his agenda, creating customs, traditions and rituals which are contrary to God’s Holy word, and which generation after generation continue to follow as tradition without questioning why, and are in essence, following the commandments of man.

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for this very act as stated in Mark 7:6-9, “He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the COMMANDMENTS OF MEN 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.9 And he said unto them, Full well YE REJECT THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD, THAT YE MAY KEEP YOUR OWN TRADITION”

I would like to talk about two of the commandments which man has completely ignored and desecrated, that being the 4^th commandment and the 6^th commandment. Not that they are more important than the other 8, but they do hold an incredibly special place in God’s heart. I could write volumes on this subject, but I will attempt to keep it to under 1000 words per post.

Ever notice the majority of activities, sports, entertainment, sales, etc., are usually scheduled to take place between the evenings of Friday and ending Saturday night? Satan is very cunning in deceiving the inhabitants of this planet and especially those calling themselves Christian. Keep reading.

When God created the Heavens and the Earth, he created them in six days, and I believe a literal 24 hour day as the scripture emphasizes the evening and the morning were the first day, the evening and the morning were the second day and so on, until the sixth day, as each day begins and ends at sunset, and then, what did God do? Genesis 1:31 And God saw every-thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Now let’s look at Genesis 2:2-3 And on the SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. . 3 And God blessed the SEVENTH DAY and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

So, we see that God rested on the Seventh Day and God SANCTIFIED the Seventh Day making it a Holy Day. Now let’s look at Exodus 20:8-11 REMEMBER the sabbath day, to keep it holy.9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

In reading the text of the 4^th commandment, it should be apparent that, the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH is a special day to God. It is the only commandment that instructs us to REMEMBER a particular day, it is the longest commandment and with specific instructions on what you should and should not do, even the animals are mentioned. The Seventh Day Sabbath is the only day out of seven that God singled out.

If God had not intended for his creation to keep and honor the seventh day, why would he have put so much emphasis on this one particular day and not assign any significance to any of the other six?

The Sabbath is God’s gift to humanity right from the Creation week itself (Gen. 2:1-3). At Creation, 3 distinctive divine acts established the Sabbath: (1) God rested on the Sabbath, (2) He blessed the Sabbath day, and (3) He sanctified it. These three actions instituted the Sabbath as God’s special gift to man.

You see man has been deceived by Satan concerning God’s Sabbath Day, causing man to switch from the seventh to the first day, which is the worship day for the pagan sun-god RA.

I will continue this in the next post and probably several more with historical and scriptural references to show how Satan has deceived so many for so long. Folks we are in the final days of Earth’s history, God is calling for His people to wake up, come out of the deceptive practices so many are entwined with today and seek the truth that only comes from God’s Holy word, not mans. When we put our trust in man’s traditions, we are following the Pied Piper of deception ( SATAN) straight to the Lake of Fire. I have exceeded my allotted space for this post.
