The Son Won!

16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. -- John 3:16 (AMPC)

13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); 14 To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. -- Galatians 3:13,14 (AMPC)

 

It must have rained that Friday on the hill

When leagues of angels wept ten billion tears;

When Love hung as a brother to the thieves

Where Innocence was spoiled and scourged with sin

 

Nails were not what held Christ to the cross,

But faithful love and grace He fully gave

As He, with outstretched arms embraced the world

And paid our debt forever with His blood.

 

He could have caused those leagues of angels down

To save Him and destroy this evil world

But Jesus kept His Father’s will for us

And conquered hell and death forever more

 

Sin died that day; the temple veil was rent

Allowing us the precious chance to walk

Across the holy bridge of Jesus Christ

and come through Him into majestic Grace

 

Oh how the sun did shine upon the hill

That glorious blessed Resurrection Day;

Our LORD and Savior Jesus did arise--

Eternal life to all who come and call!

 

13 And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross. -- Colossians 2:13,14 (AMPC)
