Value Of A Prophecy

Value Of A Prophecy
"Look now there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man: all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go? I Samuel 9:6-7 NKJV.
This was the response of the servant to his master on the day of the former's revelation and anointing as the first king in the land of Israel.
These two people (Saul and his servant) never looked down on a prophet as nobody. This is in line with the words of Matthew 10:41 that states,
"He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward."
This is true in all ramifications. It holds true in the past, in the present and forever. In today's world, it is now left to individuals to either believe (receive) a prophet and his prophecy to receive a good reward or miss it.
In the quoted verse above, the servant pointed out certain truth that is worthy of note:
1. There is always a man of God in every place, known or unknown. He may be recognised or not. He remains who he is : a man of God.
2. Every prophet of God is an honourable man of God. He does everything honourably and decently. He never does anything in dishonour. He never yearns to do anything to satisfy any man but God who is his eemployer.
3. All that he says surely comes to pass. This is the identity card of a true prophecy. It comes to pass. Do you know that those who are close to the Lord hear Him and knows His heart, plans and works? Amos 3:7 states,
"Surely the Lord God does nothing,
unless He reveals His secret to His
servants the prophets."
Do you know what? In the ancient Israel, Prophets were called "seers"? They were a special people who can see beyond the physical. They see with "God's eyes". In other words, they see the contents of the future from God's heart
Now, let us highlight the value of a prophecy to everyone living on the planet earth.
1. It sheds light into the future. One thing about the future is that it is not sure. It is full of darkness. No one is sure of what will happen. On the contrary, He who has the keys to the future can reveal by shedding His light into the contents of the future. So, those who fear Him can know what the future holds for them, environment, a nation or the world at large.
2. It offers the right steps to take before the future event unfolds. As soon as it begins to unfold, those who believe know what to do and they do it. They obey all that the Lord God profer as solutions and they are saved.
3. It reduces fear and tension. Prophecy allays fears and tension as an event takes place. No matter what happens, one's heart will be at rest. When others are living in fear. The reason is that those who believe have been aware of what was coming to happen and is aware of the way out, he has nothing to fear. No reason to be tension soaked!
4. When a secret of a future happening is revealed before it takes place and it is as predicted, it proves that there is a Personality behind it, He is God. So, prophecy proves that there is God.
5. Prophecy dictates the language of prayer as well as the action of the hearers who believe. When a negative prophecy is pronounced, people can go to God and plead for mercy that it comes not to pass. Where their sinful and evil deeds need a change, they apply it to ward it off. You can confirm this by reading the book of Jonah Chapter two to four.
6. When you are aware of an unavoidable event that will happen in the future, it will help you to prepare very well before it takes place. Your preparation will match the event. It will not catch you unawares, sometimes, you will eagerly wait for the occurrence of any event that you have prepared for.
For example, before the first flood took place on the earth, it was revealed to Noah, the righteous man of his days. He prepared an ark to save those who wanted salvation. However, it was only eight persons who were the household members of Noah that were saved.
As it was, so it is. Jesus Christ is coming to take His saints home. This is a prophecy that will be fulfilled in its own time. Do you believe this and are you prepared for the fulfillment?.
Stay blessed and remain prepared to meet him.
