LITTLE MISS LIZA LENORE LYNNFIELD: Educational Children's Story

by linzy bruno
7/28/2020 / Short Stories

Little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield lived in a small village. In fact, it was so small that everyone knew everyone else's name. Everyone also knew that the king of the village was a very wise and jolly man. They all admired him and wanted to be like him even though they had never seen him. The only way they knew anything about him was by hearing stories the villagers all told each other about their mysterious king.

Upon waking one dreary Wednesday morning, Little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield heard about some confusion in the village, so she decided to take a stroll through the village to see what all the commotion was about. First, she met Mr. David Darlington, who was looking at some sculptures.

"What are you looking for?" asked little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield.

"I am looking for a smooth slanted statue. I was told by Mr. Darlington, who heard it from Mrs. Dennings, who heard it from the Duchess herself that a smooth slanted statue will bring great happiness to anyone who owns one!"

So little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield went on her way. And as she walked, she thought what Mr. Darlington said sounded rather strange and she wondered who else she might meet on that dreary Wednesday.

She continued walking and thinking until she nearly stepped on the foot of Mr. Fred Farnsworth. Mr. Farnsworth was sitting on a park bench, just beginning to snore loudly. Why are you so tired?" asked little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield.

"I am so tired because I have spent this whole dreary Wednesday morning looking for a very violet vase," he said, shaking his head awake. I was told by Mrs. Finkelstein, who heard it from Mr. Fudinuckle, who heard it from the First Duke himself, that it will bring good luck to anyone who owns one."

So little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield went on her way. And as walked, she thought what Mr. Finkelstein said sounded rather strange and she wondered who else she might meet on that dreary Wednesday.

She continued walking and thinking until she tripped and nearly fell over a stick! She didn't see the stick because she was too busy looking at Mrs. Carly Cracker, who was gazing up at the sky.

"Why are you gazing up at the sky?" asked little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield.

"I am gazing up at the sky in order to spy a blue-bottomed bird. she said. I was told by Miss Cathy Crumble, who heard it from Mr. Cole Crasholot, who heard it from the count himself, that it will bring great wealth to anyone who spies it."

So little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield went on her way. And as she walked, she thought about all the silly things she heard from the villagers that dreary Wednesday. In fact, she wondered about it so much that she decided the only way to find out was to go to the wisest man she could think of, the king himself. But when she arrived at the castle, she was not allowed inside.

Suddenly she heard loud singing," I love my rubber ducky! I love my rubber ducky!"

The singing got louder and louder as she got closer and closer. Finally, she stopped, and her jaw dropped. There, through a space in the blinds, she could see the king! He was sitting in his bathtub! She could see a rubber ducky on the water bubbles; beautiful violet vases perched all around the tub and there were several leaning statues there, too. "Now I see! The rubber ducky is the blue-bottomed bird and I see the very violet vases and the leaning statues. Now it all makes sense! shouted little Miss Liza Lenore Lynnfield, as she walked home that dreary, but strange Wednesday, shaking her head all the way.
