Can You Say "I am sorry!"?

"For I am ready to fall,

And my sorrow is continually
before me.
For I will declare my iniquity,
I will be in anguish over my sin" Psalm 38:17-18. NKJV.(New King James Version)

The Holy Bible is the best book with the richest content. It can solve all forms of problems in the world in simple ways, if man will heed its contents.

In every relationship, there cannot but be one form of faults or mistakes or another, at different times. This holds for spiritual and physical relationships.

A careful examination of what brings a relationship to a halt will show that they are trival matters. Where the matter is a grave one, simple step can wipe it out and relationship will continue smoothly.

"I am sorry." is a three-letter sentence that maintains, retains and sustains any relationship. It is a powerful soothing balm that can heal wounds with ease. One sad thing is that failure to apply this balm can culminate into anything disastrous.

I know of a sister who is well versed in painting execuses to beautify her mistakes and faults. She will start to dust the action that raised the complaint and paint it in colors, only to prove that she is right and not wrong.

For example, if you complain that her lipstick has stained your clothe ; she can tell you that it is a little stain and not many people can seed it. Not only that, she can add that it is hidden and your cloth is not a white one. These and many others are available in her to cover herself or prove that you have no reason to complain about her mistake.

At the time of writing this piece I remember the story of a man who destroyed all that he had or do I say all that his wife had? A rift ensued and the husband believed that his wife was wrong. He complained to her and demanded only "I am sorry" but she refused to say so.

The man waited for some days demanding this but no positive result. He destroyed the woman's personal possessions one by one as he failed to get "I am sorry!" from his wife He destroyed all.

Fine, Satan came in. The man startec to kill their five children one by one as the woman remained undaunted. He killed all the five kids. They finally left each other, because of what "I am sorry!" can solve.

A careful look at the words of the Psalmist will reveal that agony and anguish is directly connected with every iniquity or sin. Every wrongdoing has torment in one form or another and at different times. That is the reason the singer said he will declare his wrong doing and not cover it to set himself free. Whoever covers his wrong deeds will not prosper according to the Scriptures. The best and simple step is to know your weakness or faults and own up. When you have offended others, apologise to cushion its effect on the person concerned.

So it is with man's relationship with God, his Creator. No matter the level or gravity of your past misdeeds before him, if you can declare, i.e confess it and be in anguish or sorrow over it, you will be forgiven forever.

The Lord God is a merciful God. He will not hesitate to pardone your past misbehaviour if you can humble yourself before Him and go not to your previous way of life that grieved Him.

Apostle Peter puts it this way, in Acts 3:119.
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the tímes of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." King James Version

My beloved reader, have you sorrowed over your wrongs against the Lord's commandment? Have you turned to your Maker to declare your evil ways to receive His forgiveness? Today is the day to set yourself free if you turn to the Lord totally. Do not delay because tomorrow may be late. You are a sojourner and pilgrim here on earth, you will be called home one day that you do not know. Prepare each day. Repent and believe the Gospel.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
