Take Responsibility

by Olawale Ogunsola
8/24/2020 / Christian Apologetics

"He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and He anointed the eyes of the blind with the clay.

And He said to him, 'Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.' (which is translated, sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing." John 9:6 NKJV.(New King James Version)

Destructive adventure of COVID19, also known as corona virus, has given birth to various slogans, terms and guidelines. National Center For Disease Control (NCDC) in Nigeria is a center charged with the responsibility of controlling all forms of diseases, it is in charge of eliminating or reducing the rate of spreading COVID19.

In almost all their messages to the people, the body concludes with this slogan : "Take responsibility". These two-word sentence is believed will help a lot in the reduction of the spread of corona virus or COVID 19. This means that the body has its own responsibility of instructing or enlightening the citizenry on the right steps to take but the roles of taking the steps rests on each individual. That is why that body never fails to add "Take responsibility" to its messages.

"Take responsibility" means that you should be responsible for your safety from the virus or any form of disease. To be hygienic is your responsibility. To live in a clean environment is your assignment that should not be delegated. To be clean and neat depends solely on you alone. You are responsible for all this.

Let it be known to you here that to fulfil your destiny in life, you need to play a very significant role. Have you come across this statement
"Heaven helps those who help themselves"?

That is just the truth. You must help yourself. This is not only in the area of disease control but in all areas of your life.

Do you say "prayer can solve problems or prevent it"? You are perfectly right. Your belief confirms the correctness of the issue on hand, "Take Responsibility". To reap rewards of prayer, you must have prayed, it is taking responsibility. If you do not pray, you will not benefit from it.

Not only this, after prayer, you have certain responsibilities to carry out to enjoy the rewards of prayer. Am I sure? Yes, I am.

The verse quoted at the start of this piece is a very good reference point. The man was blind since birth, No one could open his eyes, so he took to alms begging. I think the man must have prayed for his sight to be restored that he may see. His parents may have done same to help him. They did it for years relentlessly.

On a notable day, this blind man met the Messiah face to face and there were actions and instructions, and the problem was permanently solved. Jesus Christ played His own part by mixing saliva with soil to make clay and He put it on the man's eyes. He finished His own part of the work on him.

He then instructed him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam. That is a responsibility he must take. He was free to go or not to go. The options were before him. However, he obeyed Jesus instructions because he loved himself, he took responsibility. What followed this? He came back seeing.

When the religious Teachers asked him to explain how he was able to regain his sight, he bodly replied them,
"He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see." John 9:15.
I love this three-piece statement, "He put clay on my eyes" - This was the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. He never fails. You must not fail.

He also did not fail, "I washed". This was the bridge between Christ's action and the expected miracle seeing. Because he did not destroy the bridge linking Christ's action and miracle, he regained his sight.

Register it in your heart forever that you have a strong role to play to experience any miracle, even when mercy is required. Note that the Scriptures says, "Whoever shows mercy will receive mercy. Psalm 18:25 declares,
"With the merciful You will show
Yourself merciful."

My beloved reader, help yourself to achieve your aims and aspirations. Know your roles and fully play it well. Your story will soon change for the best. Act well your part in your own affairs. You will never regret it. People have the same responsibility to fulfill their destiny. You do likewise.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
