How to Speed Up Your Healing

by Tonja Taylor

"Pour out all your worries and stress upon Him and leave them there, for He always tenderly cares for you." -- I Peter 5:7, AMPC

Very recently, I did a stupid thing: I allowed myself to get stressed--much more than usual--because I was trying to figure out many things that had suddenly changed in my life, coupled with financial stress and more.

There are many reasons that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, tells us to cast our cares on Him; to trust and rest in Him and remember that worry doesn't help anything, but can damage a lot.

I continued to read the Word and worship and pray and praise the LORD, but my feelings didn't match. Feelings can be very deceptive! Feelings are not faith, thank goodness! But I allowed my faith to drop for a while, and my immunity, normally very high, plummeted. I started feeling very negative and craving sugar. I ate a very sweet dessert that I avoid, because I know it's not healthy. So with the toxic emotions plus the sugar, I caught a cold.

It was not the virus going around now, which is much like a common cold anyway. But it, like all manifestations of sickness, illness, and disease, was from the enemy; there is no form of the curse in Heaven! God is pure light and has no sickness or other curse to send. Even if He did, He loves us so much He wouldn't. He gave us Jesus to pay for all the mess, so we could be free of it and have a Zoe life on earth (John 10:10)!

It could have been much worse, I know, because I have been eating very healthy for years and taking many good supplements, plus getting regular exercise. So I was pretty strong.

Anyway, I started feeling very tired and just wanting to sleep a lot. My eyesight was a bit blurry and there was lots of congestion. My skin also got dry, especially on my face and around my eyes.

I did what I knew to do; eat a lot of good food and drink lots of water and juice with no sugar added, and rest. I exercised only lightly. I also took hot showers and soaked in hot baths, so that I sweated to get toxins out.

I was sleeping well at night, thank goodness. I also was listening to good preaching, including healing Scriptures. I knew all of this was working, and I thanked and praised God for His goodness--in between me fussing and finding fault with certain people and things and circumstances. I felt grief and sorrow and regret from past mistakes I'd made, and anger at others for things they did that I thought I had forgotten.

It was a pretty intense time, and I realized I had strife in myself that I needed to repent of. As always, and as Genesis 50:20 speaks of, my faithful Father worked what the enemy meant for evil to turn out for my good.

I realized I needed to repent to God, to my husband, and others. The LORD had revealed that my soul needed healing, as well as my body.

That was part of expediting my healing, and probably the most important part. However, the LORD was also faithful to show me what to do for my body. At first, I intended to get more supplements, but I didn't have peace about that. Instead, I read a health food book by an internationally-known fitness coach, and realized with the LORD's help, that I needed to do a liquids-only fast for a couple of days.

From advice in the book, I made a short grocery list for organic produce to liquify, and commited to fasting all but organic green tea, 100% pure organic grapefruit juice, lots of filtered water, and organic protein powder (protein helps keep immunity high) to go with the shakes. For the next 60 hours, I chose to stop ingesting anything but these things. My husband and I prayed these things would not adversely affect my body by causing it to go into a state of diarrhea or anything.

Less than 24 hours from me starting this--and I didn't drink the full shake at lunch--my body started to heal itself. That is one of the wonders of our bodies designed by God. The congestion and drainage almost completely stopped right after the shake, and the cough was much much less a few hours later. I started having more energy and feeling more positive.

I also made a point to get some fresh air and sit in the sun a few minutes that day. To me, that is always beneficial, no matter the season.

In addition, I decided to never allow myself to be stressed like that again. My Daddy God loves me and He cares about every detail of my life--and yours. He always causes us the righteous to triumph in Him!

I know if you do these things, or even some of them, that they can benefit your health and energy. The LORD may also show you other things to do, or stop doing. He loves you and wants you to enjoy your life!
