IMPERSONATION

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/24/2020 / Christian Apologetics

The word "Impersonation" is defined by Lexico.com as, "An act of pretending to be another person for the purpose of entertainment or fraud."

Every Impersonation that aims to entertain other people brings succour to the souls of those who are entertained. This is for the good of others. This is a nice one.

On the other hand, certain Impersonation, which is the commonest, is meant for fraud. Every form of fraudulent act is a crime against humanity and It is punishable under the law.

Pretence is the orbit on which Impersonation rotates. That is losing your real identity to be another fellow with the aim of exploiting people who are gullible. One fact about Impersonators is that they are "good" enough to act as the person they are Impersonating. Not only this, there's no category of persons they cannot deceive. Prayer and carefulness as well as obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit alone can prevent you from those pretenders wanting to swindle you. Irony of it all is that they make pretence or deceit look as the original. Their acts are always well crafted that the wise can be fooled until he becomes their victim. May the Lord save us!

Do you know what? There is no person, most especially, those powerful and influential ones, they cannot impersonate. This has negative effects on the reputation of the fellow being impersonated and the life of their victims are negatively affected. It leaves sour wounds on their hearts.

A news report recently revealed that a husband of a lady lawyer presented himself as a legal practitioner in a court of law to represent a client. He never attended any institution to study law. The only "qualification" he had was "being married to a lawyer". He is now facing the music.

In every nation, there are people who pretend to be senior Police officers with the aim of defrauding innocent public. Nemesis has caught up with many of them and will always do. After all, what has a beginning will surely have an ending. Will their end be good?

In the religious circles, impersonators are on the increase daily. They come in various forms and with various titles. They look like real religious leaders but they are not at all. Every spiritual office is being impersonated to carry out fraudulent acts. One day, they will come under judgment, here on Earth and there in Heaven.

It is for this reason we now have, false Prophets, Teachers, Pastors, Evangelists, Apostles and so on. This Impersonation has degraded these spiritual offices in the eyes of many people. One thing I am sure of is that "there cannot be a fake currency without an original one but an original currency can exist without the fake ones" A fake currency is patterned after the original. So, that there are pretenders or false spiritual or religious people does not mean that there are no original ones. By their fruits, you shall know them.

Why are impersonators, deceivers, are on the increase? This is a very good question to ask. The simplest answer I can offer is that it is a sign of the end time. It is a sign of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In Matthew 24:4-5, II, Jesus Christ reveals,
"Take heed that no one deceives you.
For many will come in My name, saying," I am the Christ," and will deceive many.
Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many."

Please, pay attention to this word "many" very well. Jesus did not say "few". That is why there are many impersonators today deceiving many people. My question now is "Are you part of the many?" Which of the two : many of those who impersonate others or many of those who are deceived? If you have the grace to read this piece up to this point, I congratulate you. All that you need to do is to put on a new leaf. Do away with every act of Impersonation and belief the Lord

Jesus Christ. He can remould your life for better results. He has the full joy you cannot receive elsewhere. Turn to Him today. Let Him dwell in you forever. If you are being deceived, let your eyes be opened today. Do not believe every spirit. Be discerning. Give Holy Spirit every room to live in and direct you forever. You will be happy you did.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus.
