Praying to God is the First Priority

Praying to God is the First Priority

Proverbs 16:3. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

This verse means a lot to me. God, in His goodness and mercy lets us go our own way. So that we find we do indeed need to rely on God for everything. Many times we mess up our own lives, because we fail to pray that God will give us direction and bless our activities. I have for so long tried different things only to fail, because I haven’t consulted God first. I finally given in and are now asking God for direction and perseverance to stay on track. So that I will accomplish Gods’ Will for me. It is never easy handing your will over to God. We want to be in control. To hand over our reigns means we have to trust God completely. God wants to stretch our faith and trust in Him. We need to believe in miracles many times throughout our lives.

Prayer life is so important. This truth can never be exaggerated. We often dive right in and not take the precaution to pray to our Father, who loves us so much that He wants to bless our lives with good things. But we have this tendency at times to think we know best. And we think sometimes we know better than God, what will make us happy. You see this in families. Parents trying to guide their children in the right direction, only to find their children can be quiet rebellious at times.

I believe in so strongly only when we do this out of love our prayer life is the most important part of serving God. I believe in doing good works comes second in importance. If we try to serve God without praying about it first, might prove to be unsuccessful. Because we are relying on our own strength and our own so called wisdom. But when we turn to God, we give God great pleasure in doing so.

I can remember when my mother and I were in the middle of moving house and we were terribly worried, how to get our animals up to our new home. So I turned to God for help and He showed up, as they say. And He was so honoured that I asked Him for help, that it shocked me. I said to myself who can I turn to, but you God. God showed me by that experience He is so, so honoured when we ask Him for help. Even if it is the most natural thing to do. Nothing can be wiser than to turn to God for help. There are great many things about Gods’ character that will both surprise, delight and amaze us if we only knew about them.

Prayer is so powerful and we need to pray for everybody not just our family.
