Best Conversion

by Olawale Ogunsola
11/09/2020 / Salvation

At the start of this piece, the Holy Spirit reminds me of the three stages of matter, solid, liquid and Gas (eous). It is the same matter that is converted into each of the stage. It is not impossible that certain elements are present at each stage of the matter, but the forms are different. Do not let me scare my readers who may not be so inclined in science.

This was the position of Nicodemus when he asked Jesus Christ,
"How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" John 3:4.

He understood the first birth, (natural birth) and not the second birth, which is spiritual. He did not see how a man can move from the first stage of birth to the second one.

He understood the fact that an old man is already born and formed a lot of old habits or old ways of life. How then can he become as innocent as a child? This was a mystery to him. This man was a religious Teacher in the ancient land of Israel. All his knowledge could not comprehend what a new birth or stage could be.

Christ's response to his ignorance was,
"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." John 3:5.

Nicodemus was aware of the birth of the flesh but not of the spirit, which Jesus Christ was concerned about.

Apostle Paul puts it this way," But the natural man does not receive the things of the spirit of God for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." ICorinthians 2:14.

The natural man and the spiritual man will always work at cross purposes.
This is the reason why conversion from the natural to the spiritual must take place. It may look impossible to man but not difficult for the Lord.

All that is required from man is yielding to God's demand.

What makes it difficult for man, you may ask? An old man is now matured. He has formed a pattern of living. He has a peculiar way of thinking and doing things. An old man has acquired certain knowledge, posts or positions. He is an experienced man in many ways. People in the society may be looking to him as an influential person ; this was the status of Nicodemus and there are many people in his shoes today,

Are you not one of them?

A new birth is to be converted from the natural to the spiritual. The key word used by Jesus Christ is "humbness" He declared,
"Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little as children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:2-4.

This is the best conversion This is being renewed from the natural to the spiritual. Those who are truly converted may come to Jesus with all their old things in exchange for new ones. You can read some of them in Galatians 5:19-21; Romans 1:29-31; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Colossians 3:5-8.

To be surely converted, Apostle Paul says, "... you have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him." Colossians 3:9-10.

A little child has the attitude of humbleness. The ultimate of conversion is to enter the kingdom of heaven and Jesus reveals that the greatest in that kingdom is the humble. No room for pride in the kingdom of God.

What or who are you? What have you acquired that seems to intoxicate you? Can you count all loss for Christ? Do you know that all that you may have acquired cannot go beyond this world? It is only your investment in spiritual things of God that can be of great benefit after this life.

Therefore, to be truly converted,
*Realised the fact that you, like any mortal man was born a sinner Romans 3:23.

*Be convinced that you cannot rescue yourself from the guilt of your past sins and lack the power to stop further sins in your life.

*Accept the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary.

*Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour now because tomorrow may be late.

*Surrender your life to Him totally and forever.

*Join an assembly of saints where they rightly divide the Word of truth, the Holy Bible.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus.
