Holiday Feast

We had recently relocated from Chicago to Toledo and had moved our church membership to Reynolds Corners Baptist Church. Reverend Harold Whitlock and wife Zelma invited us to share their holiday dinner. I think it was Thanksgiving.

The Whitlocks’ could have eaten alone. Instead, they set extra plates at their table.

“When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.  But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just (Luke 14:12b-14 NKJV).”

The Whitlocks blessed us and others with a holiday feast.

We were ‘not’ the only ones invited.

Two ladies, (nursing home residents) were invited and readily accepted the invitations. The holiday meal may have been a deciding factor in the women’s salvation. Both made public professions of faith in Jesus and followed in believer’s baptism. Each was lifted from their wheel chair and lowered into the church baptistery.

The women demonstrated great faith and commitment.

Angels rejoiced!

“Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:10 NKJV).”
