Anger

by cassie stephens

Anger seems to fuel even more anger. Normally cool heads collide, and even the most timid of people can become bold in some way. So, when it becomes so constant an occurrence, than tell me what has happened? Have we laid our heads to rest too many times with anger on our minds? Have we not let go of what is past? Where does the reason lie for such anger. Rage is such a blinding passion, and engrossed in it, we seem to forget who we really are. We are so incapable in anger. We know only at the moment what we feel, and not what is. Truth is hidden to us if we desire not to seek it. Such fury I have seen. Why does one raise his voice in anger? It all seems rather silly. You can say hurtful words softly as well. Not that that makes it any less wrong. Emotions at times they can get the better of us. It brings out the worst of our traits and enhances them to make them even more ugly. It can stem from such a deep frustration, this anger. And God, well, at times in our anger we forget all about Him. Sure, we can preach all day about the sins that anger can cause, but we would rather not hear such things while in our moments of ire. I don't think it's a question of how one can control it. We have been taught the ways, we know the methods, we plead the prayers. And yet, it still exists. It is like Paul said, "I do that which I do not want to do." It seems to be a constant struggle of the soul. We all have our weaknesses. No one seems to dispute the fact. And certainly, this anger is not one of our, as humans, strong points. Such deep emotional turmoil can come from anger. It is like a dormant volcano coming to life. Sometimes, you don't expect it to explode. I don't want to know how to control these explosions, but rather how to keep them dormant. And then it hits me, so implicitly as it were, that with Christ I can accomplish all things. And yes, even that seems the ever struggle, but we have to just stop at some point. And then you say, it's too hard, it doesn't work that way, it takes time. Christ was able to provide a way out of eternal damnation in just one night. This is God. He who created mountains, the clear sky of blue, that rustling in the wind, or the depths of the ocean. Couldn't we, as mortal beings, finally just admit it and turn to Him? I'm sure he has been waiting. It doesn't say through Christ I can do all things, but it is going to take time. The man at the pool was sick for years, and Christ healed him in an instant. Mary of Magdalene had been living with demons for years, and yet in an instant Christ delivered her. So, you can be sick in your anger for a hundred years, and still Christ can overtake that. I think that the hardest part of this revelation is being able to believe it for yourself so strongly that you just give it up without any reservations. And that is the hardest part of all. To give up, let go, no reservations, no doubts. So you see in learning all these ways to control anger I think that answer is so simple. Let go of that control.

I am no one special, no one unique. I am just, and that is okay. For all I desire is to follow my passion. And writing is the art of my passion.
