No Room For Neutrality

by Olawale Ogunsola
1/22/2021 / World Affairs

Everybody is not a politician. There are people who even go the extra mile to hate those who practise politics. This happens for various reasons which is not the focus of this piece.

However, whether you practice politics or not a reasonable percent of political decisions has a direct or indirect effect on you, no matter how wise or crafty you may be that is the reason certain people will say, "Every human being is a political animal."

Whether you agree or not, you have your reasons and opinions that may remain unchangeable. That is not a problem, whatsoever.

Do you know that there is a kingdom matter that you are involved directly and indirectly? You may know this or be ignorant of it. Yet you have something to do with it and you belong to one of the four groups connected with the kingdom. This is about the Kingdom of God. You are connected and involved.

How?

It is either you are a citizen of that kingdom or you are not. No room for neutrality whatsoever. You are either in or out, you can't sit on the fence because there is no fence to sit on. This becomes clearer considering the story contained in Luke 16:19-31. The story points to three groups represented by a person each.

Who are they?

LAZARUS : He represents the down-troden in the society. He suffered sufficiently in every sense of the word. He represent "the poor" in the society. He was described thus :

"At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores.
As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man's table, the
dogs would come and lick his open sores." Luke 16:20-21.

He was so poor that he had no way to solve his multiple problems. However, he was able to live a righteous life because he knows the Lord his God and held on to Him until his last days on the earth. Finally, he was in paradise in comfort in the bossom of Abraham. You can confirm this in Luke 16:22(a). New Living Translation. (NLT)

"They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God" Acts 14:22.
It is possible you belong to this group represented by Lazarus. Hold on to your faith, the end will be sweet.
Romans 8:18 consoles, "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he
will reveal to us later." New Living Translation (NLT)

THE RICH MAN: He represents his own group who are comfortable in this earth. They have all their heart's desires but had no provision for eternal life. The Scripture discloses,
" Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted." Luke 16:25a-c.

After this life, his own suffering started eternally.

ABRAHAM. Father of faith was comfortable during his life time. Scriptures reveal
"(Abram was very rich in livestock, silver and gold.) " Genesis 13:2.
He graduated from Abram, meaning exhalted father to become Abraham (father of many nations - Gen 17:5.

In the place of the dead (Paradise), he has a bossom to accommodate other faithful and blameless people of God. Luke 16:22. That is a rich man on earth who was rich in faith and has enough "resources" to host others after this life. verse 22.

This means, you can be comfortable here on earth and still inherit the kingdom of God.

DOUBLE LOSERS. Interestingly there is another group which was not mentioned in Jesus parable contained in Luke 16:19-31. These are the poor people on earth who have no faith whatsoever in their Lord and Maker. These group will not only suffer in this life but they will suffer more in the life to come. They will have no one to comfort him. This group will suffer here and there.

Do you know what? There is no way you will not belong to one of these four groups. You may or may not know this, you must belong to one group. My advice here is that you need to predetermine the right and appropriate group you want to belong to. The choices are before you, chose rightly and wisely. Choose to live right here on earth and let you after life be a blessed one.

No matter how bad you may be now, you can turn on a new leaf. Jesus Christ has paid the complete price for your sins, transgression and iniquities. Why then should you perish in this and eternal life.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
