Heal Your Hidden Leprosy.

by Olawale Ogunsola
4/09/2021 / Christian Apologetics

"Leprosy is defined by Oxford Languages as "a contagious disease that affects the skin, mucous membranes, and nerves, causing discolouration and lumps on the skin and, in tropical Africa and Asia. Another definition is put as "a state of corruption or decay."

That is the state of leprosy. Who desires to have this contagious disease? No one!

Let us consider the life of a leprosy infected man from the Holy Scriptures, in brief:

The Holy Bible reveals, "Now, Naaman, captain of the host of the King of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria : he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper" 2 Kings 5

A careful examination of the short description of Naaman reveals about five areas of his outstanding attainments. Let me itemise them for the purpose of charity :

1. He was a captain of the host of a great country, Syria of old.

2. He was a great man, dearly beloved by king of Syria ; he enjoys his favour.

3. He was an honourable man in many respects.

4. The Lord by his hand gave victory to Syria in her war expeditions.

5. He was a mighty man in valour.
What a great description!

However, as great, and mighty as he is, leprosy did not respect him, it infected him. It became a point of ridicule in his life. He lived with this disease for many years.

However, to God be the glory, a final end came to his leprosy when a little Jewish girl introduced him to Elisha, the prophet who was resident in Samaria then.

The Holy Scriptures concludes, "Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God : and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean" 2 Kings 5:14.

That was the end of his skin or bodily leprosy! Halleluiah!

Do you know that Naaman's leprosy is not limited to that concerning his skin and other parts of his body? He suffered from other worse leprosy that affects his Spirit and emotions. He was healed of both.

How?

Let us identify the other two types of leprosy he was healed of.

1. Emotional leprosy. It is glaring that Naaman was proud. He was intoxicated possibly by who he was and his attainments. You can read this as it iswritten in the beginning of this piece.

You will understand who he is.

When the prophet, Elisha, told him to dip himself into Jordan river seven times, his emotional leprosy was displayed as the Holy Bible records, " But Naaman became angry and stalked away... So Naaman turned and went away in a rage." 2 Kings 5:11-12 NLT.

This inner leprosy would have hindered him from receiving the healing of the physical leprosy. Thanks God he had faithful officers who encouraged him to obey the Prophets instructions. Do not forget (let me inform you that he came to Elisha will a very strong encourage to convince everyone that he was a powerful man. He was humble by the Prophet's failure to see or attend to him and the rejection of his presents by Elisha. Read 2 Kings 5,9,10,13,16.

Before that time, Naaman was an idol worshipper. He changed his god on that day he met Elisht. He declared, " All right, but please allow me to load two of my mules with earth from this place (Israel), and I will take it back home with me from now on I will never again offer burnt offerings or sacrifices to any other god except the Lord" verse 17. This was how he was healed from his spiritual leprosy. Have you been healed of yours?

Do you know you need to be delivered from your leprosy? You may not suffer any leprosy on your skin but what about your your emotional and spiritual leprosy? Do you realise you suffer from any?

Your attainments, popularity or greatness can not impair your leprosy from ruining your future. That is why, you need to be cleansed in the river of the blood of Jesus christ. This will represent your "Jordan" today. You must be washed. Your leprosy in another words is your weakness, evil acts, wrong doings or sins. Your status in the church or society does not exonerate you from this leprosy. Be humble! Do not be wise in your own conceit.
May the Lord heal you!? May He make you clean in Jesus name.
Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you wash'd in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour.
Are you wash'd in the blood of the lamb?
Are you wash'd in the blood.
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?

Are your garments spotless? Are they
white as snow?
Are you wash'd in the blood of the Lamb? Redemption Hymn 502.(CAC).
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
