Avoid Misplaced Priorities

There are so many things to do on daily basis. This culminates into a list of activities to perform weekly which amass into monthly assignments. It is important to set activities competing for our attention in their right order. This will yield optimal result and you will live a meaningful life. It will be a fruitful one for that matter.

Do you know that there are activities that call for our attention which will not be to our advantage and should be avoided? An instance of this is one that emanates from the action or in action of others. This is what others do or fails to do. You may have power or authority to do or reward them according to their wrong doings but you should not because it will not bring great values to you and your community. In human interactions, we sometimes cross one another and offend one another. Over reaction is very dangerous. Future lovers and helpers may be destroyed today to your disadvantage.

Watch!

Do you believe that it (self revenge) rears its ugly head among those who follow the King of all kings?

In the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded by Luke in chapter (9 ) nine in verse fifty-four discloses,
"Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?"

These are the words of Christ disciples to their Master, Jesus Christ, when He was rejected in a Samarian village ( by Samaritians). This suggestion did not go down well with Him, He rebuked them thus,
" You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." verse 56.

By nature, makind loves to destroy what God had made, including human beings. This was not the nature of Christ. He is the Saviour of the World John 3:16 reveals this so.

It is easier to ruin more than build. It is easier to kill than to make alive. Almost everybody has the power to destroy but only few ones possess power to build or make alive. The sad aspect of it is that mankind does not aspire to take constructive steps, in most cases.

Let me buttress my point with what happened to the same followers of Jesus Christ in the same John chapter nine.

Earlier in same chapter, a man had come to them for healing of his son who was tormented by an evil spirit. The man told Jesus,
"So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not." verse 40. What a great contrasts. The same set of people who could not heal a boy in verse forty was in a hurry to destroy people in a village.

Did they get their priority right? Jesus gave a right description of them.
" Ó faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you?" verse 41.

Are you a man who is faithless and perverse in your generation? You need to change for the better. You need improvement. Please, pray to have strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and be delivered from perverseness. Have you been endued with power from above? Be careful and watchful! There is the tendency to misuse or misapply it to destroy. Do not abhor a destructive spirit in you. You may unknowingly wound yourself now or in future. Do you know what? From among the people the disciples would have destroyed became their "brethren in the Lord".

How?

One woman encountered the Lord Jesus Christ near a well and they exchanged words. The woman believed Him and ran into the city inviting them with, "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did, could this be the Christ?" John 4:29.

The outcome of that message was, "Then they went out of the city and came to Him." verse 30.
Their faith did not rest on only the words of the woman because they declared,
"Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know, that this indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world." verse 42.

Set your priority right. Do not acquire any power or authority to destroy but power to make alive so that you will not lose future benefits now.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
